Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mohammed Al Shazlee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Right! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Right leaves Al Shazlee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Right throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Al Shazlee. Al Shazlee went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Right throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Jake Right seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Right throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Al Shazlee lands with a right hand. Right falls off balance throwing a combination
and Al Shazlee counters with a left and a right that stings Right. Al Shazlee throws a series of punches but Right avoids them all with ease. Right misses with a few strikes there.
Right throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Al Shazlee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Al Shazlee decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Right fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Al Shazlee appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Right stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Right wants it to stay on the feet. Right throws a series of punches but Al Shazlee moves out of range. Al Shazlee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Right wants to stand and escape but Al Shazlee is having none of it. Right looks winded! Al Shazlee is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Al Shazlee sitting in guard here, content to control. Right is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Al Shazlee controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Right is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Al Shazlee dives into side control.
Right wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Al Shazlee stands up. Al Shazlee is looking to clinch. Right throws a right and a left that Al Shazlee avoids nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Right misses with a two punch combination.
Al Shazlee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Right was covering up waiting for the punch and Al Shazlee finishes the takedown easily into guard. Al Shazlee slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Al Shazlee advances to half guard. Al Shazlee landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Al Shazlee controlling the action here. Right is trying to stand up here but Al Shazlee is controlling him well.

Al Shazlee in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Right tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Al Shazlee!
