Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Giles (ranked 5887 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Xiao (ranked 8305 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Xiao was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony Giles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Xiao!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giles throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Xiao lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Xiao closes the distance and clinches.
Giles prevents Xiao from breaking the clinch.
Xiao fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Xiao breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Giles uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Xiao.

Giles moves into range and clinches up with Xiao.
Xiao fails to pull the fight into his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Giles blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Xiao pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Xiao throws a body shot but no joy.
Jack Xiao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Xiao lands a right hand.


It looks like Tony Giles has been cut.
Giles throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Xiao has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Giles is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Tony Giles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Xiao.
Giles blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Xiao breaks the clinch.

We've been informed that Xiao has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Xiao shoots in for a takedown but Giles shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Giles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Giles looks to land a combination but Xiao avoids it well.

Giles throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Xiao fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Giles is out of range.

Giles gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Xiao manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Giles misses with an elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Giles controlling the action here for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Xiao lands an elbow just above Giles 's eye.
Xiao can't get the takedown.
Xiao's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Giles throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Giles could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Giles scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Xiao managing to block the knees to the body from Giles.
Xiao content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Giles misses with a punch on the inside.

Xiao breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Giles keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A little feinted left hand from Giles on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Nice sprawl there from Giles as Xiao shoots in.
Giles tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Xiao manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Xiao throws a head kick but Giles moves out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Giles blocks a head kick by Xiao.
Xiao shoots in looking for a takedown. Giles tries to sprawl out of it but Xiao keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Giles manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Giles rushes Xiao and presses him up against the cage.
Giles prevents the takedown attempt.
Giles has a couple of punches blocked by Xiao.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Giles creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.


It looks like Jack Xiao has been cut.
Xiao tries to score a body lock takedown but Giles shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Xiao is trying to pull guard but Giles has him pressed against the cage.
Tony Giles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Xiao.

Xiao is rocked!
Giles loads up on a big left hand. Xiao felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Giles looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Xiao can't hide his disappointment, as Giles celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Giles!
