Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Black Rob (ranked 3303 p4p, 280 weight class) and Brian Claremont (ranked 1662 p4p, 174 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rob with a lazy takedown attempt

and Claremont counters by moving into the clinch.
Rob goes for a takedown attempt but Claremont pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Claremont avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Claremont has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Rob is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Black Rob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rob shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Claremont counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Black Rob. That's going to take a lot out of him.

It looks like Black Rob has been cut.
Rob throws a hook but Claremont blocks it.
Claremont is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Rob with a body shot.
Rob gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Claremont.

Rob takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Claremont counters with a nice body shot.
Brian Claremont is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Rob has his takedown stuffed
and Claremont counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Rob is breathing heavily.
Rob shoots in looking for a takedown. Claremont tries to sprawl out of it but Rob keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Claremont manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Claremont lands with an overhand left.
Claremont punishes Rob's body with a nice straight punch.
Rob walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Rob shoots in but no luck this time.
Claremont thumps Rob with a low kick.
Rob tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Claremont defends well and Rob ends up having to push Claremont into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Rob looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

and Claremont connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Oh Rob is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Claremont wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Rob seems to have got his legs back now.
Claremont lands a jab to Rob's midsection.
Claremont lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Claremont lands a big right hand that sends Rob crashing to the mat! Claremont stays standing though and waves Rob back to his feet!

Black Rob's cut is getting worse.

Claremont closes the distance and clinches.
Claremont lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Claremont lands a right hand that snaps the head of Rob backwards.

Claremont gets underhooks to prevent Rob's takedown attempt.
Claremont gets through Rob's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Claremont lands a left hand.
Rob fails to pull guard.
Rob takes a shot to the head.
A short body shot lands from Claremont as the two fighters clinch.
Claremont scores with a hook to the body.
Claremont lands a shot to the body.
Rob is trying to pull guard but Claremont has him pressed against the cage.
Claremont is leaning against Rob and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Claremont lands with a left to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Claremont lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Claremont digs a right hand into Rob's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Rob's gas tank.
Claremont pushes Rob back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Nice body punch from Claremont - that landed with a thud.

Claremont lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Rob or not.

Claremont's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rob fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Claremont avoids it really well and circles away.
Claremont unleashes a big counter combination but Rob bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Claremont scores with the left hand. Rob knows he should have avoided that one.
Rob shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Claremont paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Oooooh!!! Claremont has knocked Rob down with a huge combo! Claremont steps away and waves a wobbly Rob back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Claremont connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rob tries for a takedown but Claremont circles away easily
and Claremont scores with a counter punch that sends Rob to the canvas! Claremont smells blood - he's punishing Rob with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Rob has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brian Claremont! Brian Claremont retains his featherweight title!
