The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miles gets the takedown into side control. Miles working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Poole is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Miles is keen to just control but Poole is a slippery customer. Poole is looking for a sweep. Miles is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Miles is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Poole doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Miles. Poole has hold of Miles's hands but Miles slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Poole tries to roll over but Miles keeps him under control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Miles wants to pass to mount but Poole is defending the position. Poole keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Miles has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Miles is thwarting Poole's attempts to control the position. Poole taking some punishment here, with Miles in his half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miles wants to free his trapped foot but Poole is holding on for dear life with his legs. Miles is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Miles takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Poole trying to control but Miles postures up.

Miles bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Miles working away. Poole tries to improve position but can't. Poole is trying to control Miles's posture but Miles avoids it. Miles working the body and head with strikes. Miles has hold of Poole's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Poole seems comfortable defending it but Miles has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Poole is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Poole is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Miles couldn't care less - he's delighted!
