The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Ryan looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pettis passes into half guard.
Pettis is thwarting Ryan's attempts to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pettis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Pettis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ryan for as long as he can get away with.
Ryan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Well, if Pettis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Ryan wants to control but Pettis is keeping busy.
Pettis prevents Ryan from improving his position.

Pettis is pressing down on Ryan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ryan is holding on for now.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ryan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ryan tries to get to full guard but Pettis has control of the leg.

Pettis works his way into side control.

Ryan is trying to work for a sweep but Pettis has mounted him!
Score +2 for reaching mount: Pettis (7) vs (0) Ryan
Ryan tries to lock up and control but Pettis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ryan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pettis haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Pettis controlling the pace for now.

Ryan tries to improve his position but Pettis has taken his back! Pettis has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Ryan tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Pettis pushes Ryan away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
