Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Watin Qary! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bj Santos Jr! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos Jr closes this distance looking for a takedown but Qary circles away. Qary misses with a jab, cross combination.
Santos Jr shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Qary defends it nicely. Qary sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Santos Jr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Qary to score an easy takedown into full guard. Santos Jr wriggles free and stands up. Santos Jr misses with a takedown attempt - Qary sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Watin Qary has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bj Santos Jr.
That's one minute gone in the round. Qary displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Santos Jr. Santos Jr has a takedown stuffed. Santos Jr looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Qary is fending him off so far but Santos Jr persists. Nope, Qary circles away and we're back to standing. Qary rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Santos Jr moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Qary has managed to clinch.
Qary drags the fight down to the ground.
Qary has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Santos Jr can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Santos Jr works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santos Jr is looking to take a break and control but Qary is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Qary is looking for a sweep. Santos Jr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Santos Jr not landing any meaningful shots this time. Santos Jr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Qary is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos Jr is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Qary is not content to let Santos Jr control the position. Santos Jr prevents Qary from improving his position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Santos Jr tries to pass to full mount but Qary defends it. Qary has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Santos Jr is working away from the top position though.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Qary keeps the fight on the outside. Santos Jr shoots in but no luck this time. Qary keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Qary swinging wildly here.
Qary really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Santos Jr tries to clinch there but Qary circles away.
Santos Jr connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Qary's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Santos Jr connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Qary scrambles back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Santos Jr ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Santos Jr fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Watin Qary will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Santos Jr tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Santos Jr tries to land a front kick but Qary steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Qary throws the left hand but Santos Jr avoids the punch easily. Qary throws a right and a left that both miss. Santos Jr fails in his attempt to clinch. Santos Jr looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Watin Qary is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Santos Jr pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Santos Jr tries to clinch up but Qary circles away and keeps his distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Qary closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Santos Jr quickly recovers to half guard. Santos Jr trying to control here.

Qary prevents Santos Jr from standing back up.
Qary tries to stand and escape but Santos Jr is controlling the position. Qary trying to mount his opponent but Santos Jr defends it. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santos Jr wants to control but Qary is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Qary stuffs the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Qary forces Santos Jr back against the cage and clinches. Qary lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Qary throws an elbow that misses.
Santos Jr jumps guard but Qary stands there with Santos Jr around his waist. Santos Jr gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Watin Qary has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bj Santos Jr. Santos Jr throws an elbow that misses.
Both guys are working to get underhooks. Qary throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Qary tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Santos Jr avoids it. Santos Jr tries to circle away but Qary has him pinned against the cage. Qary pulls Santos Jr into guard.
Qary pulls Santos Jr in close to prevent any damage. Qary is looking for a triangle but Santos Jr pushes his legs off easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Qary keeping moving, preventing Santos Jr from controlling successfully. Santos Jr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Qary swivels though and keeps the full guard. Qary knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santos Jr on the ground. Santos Jr won't allow Qary to sweep him here. Qary on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Qary tries to get out of the position. Santos Jr wants to control from the top but Qary keeps moving.

Santos Jr tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Santos Jr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Qary appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Santos Jr shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Qary eats them both and turns towards Santos Jr to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Santos Jr is trying hard to land a takedown here. Qary sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Santos Jr shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Qary defends it nicely. Santos Jr is breathing heavily. No luck for Santos Jr with that takedown attempt. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Qary scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Still in half guard, Qary seems content to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Santos Jr tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Qary defends well and Santos Jr ends up having to push Qary into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. A leg kick checked by Qary. Qary throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Santos Jr was covering up waiting for the punch and Qary finishes the takedown easily into guard. Santos Jr is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Qary is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Qary slips nicely into half guard. Santos Jr moves into full guard.

Qary makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Santos Jr has a closed guard, preventing Qary from standing up. Qary scoring with punches to the head and body. Qary is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Santos Jr looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santos Jr is working an open guard so Qary takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Qary closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Santos Jr quickly recovers to half guard. Qary is nestled in close to Santos Jr, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Qary is taking a breather. Santos Jr says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Qary throwing shots but Santos Jr is blocking nicely. Santos Jr is looking to control Qary's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Santos Jr avoid being mounted?

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Santos Jr kicks Qary off and gets back to his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Santos Jr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Qary to score an easy takedown into full guard. Santos Jr is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Qary dives into side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Bj Santos Jr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Qary has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
