Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andres Shavi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamal Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Gods Gonna Cut You Down"-Johnny Cash. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shavi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Thompson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Thompson tries for a takedown but Shavi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
An inside leg kick lands from Thompson.
Thompson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Thompson darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Jamal Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shavi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Shavi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Shavi swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Thompson.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

so Shavi counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

and Thompson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Shavi has control of Thompson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Thompson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Shavi swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Thompson is now in Shavi's guard. A big mistake from Shavi there, giving up the dominant position!

Shavi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Thompson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Shavi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Shavi's back!

Shavi wants to get up but he can't break Thompson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Shavi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shavi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Shavi fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Thompson.
Shavi has closed the distance and engaged Thompson in a clinch.

Shavi has Thompson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Thompson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
