Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brynjolfur Davidsdottir (ranked 4914 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ali Zayed Abdulrakhman (ranked 2967 p4p, 0 weight class). Davidsdottir has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ali Zayed Abdulrakhman! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davidsdottir is trying hard to land a takedown here. Abdulrakhman sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Davidsdottir throws a shot from downtown. Abdulrakhman moves away and avoids it. Davidsdottir looks to score with a jab to the body but Abdulrakhman is just out of range. Abdulrakhman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Davidsdottir's guard. Abdulrakhman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Abdulrakhman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Abdulrakhman trying to stand up but can't free himself from Davidsdottir's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Abdulrakhman closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Davidsdottir is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Abdulrakhman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Davidsdottir throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Abdulrakhman takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Davidsdottir trying to stall but Abdulrakhman improves his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Davidsdottir successfully pulls guard.
Davidsdottir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Abdulrakhman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Davidsdottir is breathing heavily. Abdulrakhman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abdulrakhman wants to get up but he can't break Davidsdottir's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Abdulrakhman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Abdulrakhman looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abdulrakhman wants to control from the top but Davidsdottir keeps moving. Abdulrakhman with a nice head shot there. Abdulrakhman trying to stand up but can't free himself from Davidsdottir's guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Davidsdottir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Abdulrakhman paws at him with a jab and circles away. Davidsdottir will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brynjolfur Davidsdottir. That's going to take a lot out of him. Abdulrakhman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Abdulrakhman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Davidsdottir to the mat! Davidsdottir manages to get full guard. Abdulrakhman showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Abdulrakhman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davidsdottir is keeping the position for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Abdulrakhman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Davidsdottir has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Abdulrakhman has managed to get both his arms back between Davidsdottir's legs - danger averted. Abdulrakhman stopping the sweep attempt from Davidsdottir. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abdulrakhman working away. Davidsdottir is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Abdulrakhman off and has taken his back! Abdulrakhman is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Davidsdottir off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Davidsdottir controlling well, preventing Abdulrakhman from escaping the position.
