The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Baroni looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Baroni closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Chavez is looking to reverse the position. Chavez can't do much from the bottom here. Baroni is trying to get an arm triangle but Chavez is defending well. Baroni tries for a kimura but Chavez is defending well. Baroni taking a breather here. Chavez throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chavez explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Chavez slips a jab and a cross from Baroni.

Baroni drives through with a takedown into guard. Baroni keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Chavez's head. Baroni postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Baroni looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Baroni changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chavez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Baroni decides to take the fight back to the feet. Baroni avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A head kick misses from Baroni. Baroni shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Baroni showed some decent athleticism there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baroni is looking to advance position but Chavez won't allow it. Chavez looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Chavez trying to hold on to Baroni's head to control him but Baroni postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Chavez is trying to get back to full guard. Baroni is looking for a kimura but Chavez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Baroni to get the leverage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Buddy Baroni dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Baroni throws a head kick that misses and Chavez counters with a lovely straight right hand! Baroni punishes Chavez's body with a nice straight punch. Chavez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Chavez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Baroni is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Baroni wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Buddy Baroni has got the better of the ground game so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Baroni is squirming around, avoiding Chavez's attempts to control the action.

Chavez tries to control but Baroni wriggling away. Chavez wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Baroni tries to lock up and control but Chavez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Baroni tries to reverse the position but Chavez maintains control. Baroni really wants to buck Chavez off and get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Chavez goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Baroni turns into him and now he's in Chavez's guard.
Baroni is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Chavez wants to get back to his feet but Baroni passes into half guard.
Baroni passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Chavez! Chavez is looking to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Baroni cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Baroni with a couple of short strikes. Chavez tries to hold on but Baroni pushes him away. Baroni looking to control and managing it successfully. Chavez is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Baroni lands a big elbow. Baroni is standing up, even though he is in mount. Baroni scores a takedown into full mount! Baroni controlling the pace for now. Chavez working to try and regain half guard.
Chavez tries to hold on but Baroni postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Buddy Baroni showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Baroni shoots in for a double leg but Chavez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Baroni shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Chavez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Chavez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Baroni has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Chavez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Chavez won't allow Baroni to get back to his feet. Baroni uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. You get the feeling that Chavez really doesn't like being in this position too much.

BJ Chavez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buddy Baroni. Chavez looks for a takedown but Baroni sprawls well. Baroni changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chavez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Baroni decides to stand back up. BJ Chavez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Buddy Baroni is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Chavez throws a sloppy head kick and Baroni moves out of range easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Buddy Baroni comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Baroni has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
