Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Andrey Lapis (ranked 5640 p4p, 503 weight class) and Helio Kimura (ranked 12788 p4p, 664 weight class). Lapis comes to the ring accompanied by Once Solemn . I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Helio Kimura was going to win. Let's see if he was right.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 4 losses; Andrey Lapis! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 10 losses; Helio Kimura! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kimura darts in and clinches Lapis up against the ropes. Lapis gets control of Kimura's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lapis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Lapis is trying to control the position but Kimura postures up. Kimura not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Lapis looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lapis has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Kimura has passed into side control.
Score +3 for passing guard: Lapis (0) vs (3) Kimura Kimura is looking to take a break and control but Lapis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've been hearing good reports from Lapis's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Lapis is looking to regain half guard here but Kimura keeps moving and retains side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kimura has hold of Lapis's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Lapis tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kimura cranks the arm and Lapis screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Lapis, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
