Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Kazushi Aoki (ranked 2048 p4p, 207 weight class) and Ewen Davis (ranked 389 p4p, 40 weight class). Davis has chosen Atreyu-Ex's and oh's as his entrance music. Ewen Davis acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 0 losses; Kazushi Aoki! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 2 losses; Ewen Davis! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Aoki closes the distance and clinches. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Davis has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Davis prevents a takedown attempt there.

Aoki definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Let's hope that Davis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Aoki gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Davis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Davis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Davis keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Davis is looking to stall here but Aoki recovers full guard.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Davis stopping the sweep attempt from Aoki. Davis controls from within his opponent's guard. Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aoki swivels though and keeps the full guard. Aoki is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Aoki wants to control but Davis passes easily into half guard.

He's hooked one of Davis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Davis's back! That's eight minutes gone in the round. Aoki lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Aoki (6) vs (7) Davis The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Davis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Aoki stands and throws Davis's legs to the side, diving into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Aoki (9) vs (7) Davis Davis tries to improve position but can't. Aoki trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Aoki perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Aoki passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Davis! That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Aoki mounts Davis! Really nice guard pass there! Aoki trying to control but he's not successful this time. Davis is looking to get to half guard. Aoki can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Davis is looking to escape. Davis is controlling an arm, preventing Aoki from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Davis tries to hold on but Aoki pushes him away.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Aoki prevents Davis from getting the reversal. Davis regains half guard. Aoki uses his free foot to push down on Davis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Davis. Score +3 for passing guard: Aoki (19) vs (9) Davis Aoki wants to control the pace but Davis is squirming around nicely. Aoki pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Aoki prevents Davis from getting the reversal. Aoki can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Davis is looking to escape. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Davis tries to hold on but Aoki postures up.
And that's the end of the fight! Aoki takes the fight on points by 19 to 9. Kazushi Aoki decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. Ewen Davis was interviewed post fight and said 'Ill be back and next time ill be ready.'. |
