Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
15 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Blitz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Iancu Calmuschi!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Reed Andrews and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blitz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Blitz looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are working up against the cage. Calmuschi manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Blitz breaks from the clinch.
Calmuschi keeps the fight on the outside.
Calmuschi forces Blitz back against the cage and clinches.
Calmuschi pushes Blitz back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Blitz throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Calmuschi blocks it with crossed arms.
Calmuschi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Blitz gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Calmuschi scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A hook to the body from Calmuschi.
Calmuschi tries a body shot but Blitz blocks it.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Blitz just misses with a elbow thrown towards Calmuschi's brow.
Calmuschi misses with a punch on the inside.
Calmuschi is working Blitz over against the cage.
Blitz misses with a knee to the head.
Calmuschi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A nice inside leg kick there by Calmuschi. That's going to slow Blitz down.
Blitz with a poor takedown
and Calmuschi counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Blitz feints and as Calmuschi raises his hands in defense, Blitz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Calmuschi wriggles free and stands up.
Calmuschi circles away from the clinch attempt.
A big right from Calmuschi misses.
Blitz is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Calmuschi.
Calmuschi catches Blitz with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Blitz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Calmuschi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Blitz has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Blitz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Blitz shoots in for a takedown but Calmuschi shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Blitz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Calmuschi tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Blitz is able to avoid easily.

Blitz swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

John Blitz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blitz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Calmuschi defends it nicely.
Blitz goes for a double leg but Calmuschi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Calmuschi continues to drive forward.

and Calmuschi counters by clinching up.
Blitz tries to break free but Calmuschi pushes him back against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Calmuschi.
Calmuschi lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Blitz backwards.
Calmuschi goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Blitz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Blitz is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Calmuschi only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Blitz misses with a takedown
and Calmuschi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Calmuschi lands a really nice looking cross but Blitz seems unphased.
Blitz misses with a takedown attempt - Calmuschi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
As Blitz backs off Calmuschi throws a huge counter combo but Blitz manages to avoid it all.
Iancu Calmuschi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Blitz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Calmuschi keeps the fight on the outside.
Calmuschi cracks a nice hook into Blitz's ribs.
Calmuschi goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Blitz is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Calmuschi.
Calmuschi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blitz moves away.
Blitz seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Calmuschi misses with a two punch combination.
Calmuschi throws a body punch but Blitz moves out of range.
Calmuschi throws the left hand but Blitz avoids the punch easily.
Blitz appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Blitz 's head but he takes it in his stride.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Blitz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Calmuschi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Blitz throws a combination that misses
and Calmuschi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Blitz closes the distance and clinches up with Calmuschi, looking for a takedown. Blitz pushes Calmuschi against the cage but Calmuschi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Blitz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Calmuschi counters with a head kick that drops Blitz to the mat! Blitz scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Blitz is rocked!
Calmuschi drops Blitz with a straight right hand, right on the button! Calmuschi follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Iancu Calmuschi!
During a confident post fight interview, Iancu Calmuschi thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
The defeated John Blitz had this to say: 'Have to train my wrestling'.
