Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aaron Work! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robbie Crisp! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Work shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Crisp counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Crisp. Crisp is stalling in the full guard. Crisp in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Crisp pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Work is keeping the position for now. Crisp got a little sloppy there for a moment and Work has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Crisp has managed to get both his arms back between Work's legs - danger averted. Crisp slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crisp remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Work tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Work avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Crisp. Crisp looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Work is looking for a sweep. Crisp tries to advance to mount but can't. Crisp working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Sloppy strikes there by Crisp. Crisp is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Work will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Crisp gets to mount! Work was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Work is breathing heavily. Crisp lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crisp throwing strikes here but Work is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Crisp misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Work really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Crisp controlling his opponent. Crisp connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Crisp lands a nice shot to the head. Crisp working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Crisp controlling from mount. Crisp looking to finish with strikes here!
Work wants to hold on but Crisp pushes him away. Crisp quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Crisp but it's paid off an Work is forced to tap! Nice work by Crisp.
