Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Blaise Cailloux! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gargan Morus! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cailloux throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Morus misses with a hook
and Cailloux counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Cailloux working the head and body with strikes. Cailloux is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cailloux throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Cailloux is working for a kimura but Morus is defending it quite comfortably.
Cailloux takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Morus is looking to escape. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Morus can do anything to dispel that myth. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cailloux is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Morus looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cailloux has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Morus has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Jungle -Apply Within. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cailloux sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Morus defending well though. Cailloux is looking to take a break and control but Morus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cailloux prevents Morus from standing back up.
Morus keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Morus is refusing to be controlled, as Cailloux sits in half guard. Cailloux throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Cailloux wants to control but Morus is keeping him busy. Cailloux stops Morus from getting back to his feet.
Morus won't allow Cailloux to pass to mount. Cailloux is looking for a kimura here.
Morus tries to kick Cailloux off but Cailloux keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Cailloux is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Morus defends it well. Morus looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Cailloux is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Morus throws the left hand but Cailloux avoids the punch easily. Cailloux throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Morus was covering up waiting for the punch and Cailloux finishes the takedown easily into guard. Cailloux stops Morus from standing up. Morus looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cailloux stops Morus from standing up. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Cailloux scoring with some ground and pound. Cailloux sitting in guard here, content to control. Cailloux pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Morus is keeping the position for now. Morus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cailloux drops back, looking for a kneebar! Morus looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Morus looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Morus! Cailloux is looking to reverse the position. Cailloux manages to get back to half guard. Cailloux is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cailloux is refusing to be controlled, as Morus sits in half guard. Cailloux wants to get back to full guard. Morus trying to control from half guard but Cailloux is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morus tries to stand and escape but Cailloux is controlling the position. Cailloux regains full guard. Nicely done. Morus controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Morus would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Cailloux throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Morus trying to control but Cailloux is working from the bottom. Morus avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cailloux seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Morus wants to stand but Cailloux is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Cailloux has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Morus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Morus has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cailloux is proving hard to escape from. Morus trying to control the position from guard on top but Cailloux is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Cailloux throws a jab when Morus was well out of range. Some wild striking there from Morus.
Cailloux half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Cailloux rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Morus counters with a nice uppercut. Cailloux pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Despite the aggression on Morus's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Cailloux tries for a takedown but Morus sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Morus getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Cailloux throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A little jabbing left from Morus on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Cailloux has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Morus finds it's way round the side to connect with Cailloux's head. Morus slips a jab from Cailloux. A little jabbing left from Morus on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Morus lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Cailloux uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Morus. Morus drops Cailloux with a huge uppercut! Cailloux drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Morus is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
