Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jerrold Melton (ranked 5810 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Sommer (ranked 5738 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jerrold Melton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dustin Sommer! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sommer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Melton. Melton scores with a head kick. Sommer tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Sommer instigates a clinch. Melton misses with an elbow strike.
Melton breaks from the clinch.
Melton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sommer is trying to get back to his feet. Melton taking a breather here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melton working away. Melton is trying to get an arm triangle but Sommer is defending well. Sommer tries to get back to half guard but can't. Sommer wants to get back to his feet but Melton is dominant here and he's now got Sommer's back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sommer is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Melton is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Sommer knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Sommer for a finish. Melton slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Sommer tries to escape but Melton has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Melton controls the position. Sommer trying to control the position but Melton manages to sink in the hooks. Sommer wants to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sommer is trying to get back to his feet but Melton has full control of the position and if anything, Sommer has just worked his way into a worse spot. Sommer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Melton has the hooks in. Sommer is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Melton lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Sommer.
Sommer wants to get back to his feet. Melton working for the choke. Melton biding his time, controlling Sommer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Melton has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Sommer trying to control the hands but Melton breaks the grip. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Melton has good solid back control here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jerrold Melton dominated that round. That's time! Melton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Sommer closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sommer lands in his opponent's guard. Melton is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sommer dives into side control.
Melton is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Melton gets back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Melton has one foot on Sommer's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Melton rushes Sommer and presses him up against the cage. Melton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sommer can do to turn this around?
That's one minute gone in the round. Melton misses with an elbow over the top. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Sommer lands an elbow inside that Melton shrugs off. Melton is trying to break the clinch but Sommer has him pressed against the cage. Melton wants to break free but Sommer has control.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Sommer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sommer has managed to clinch.
Melton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sommer throws a half hearted mid kick. Melton shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sommer defends it nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Melton has Sommer up against the cage in a clinch.

Sommer scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Jerrold Melton has been cut. Melton shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Melton loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sommer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sommer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Melton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Sommer throws his legs up looking for a submission but Melton uses it to pass to side control.
Sommer is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Sommer misses with an elbow from the bottom. Sommer looking for a sweep but Melton has passed into full mount! Oh no! Melton content just to control the position here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. This is a sustained period of stalling by Melton. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jerrold Melton will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jerrold Melton's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Melton walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Sommer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Melton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Melton throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Sommer moves into the clinch successfully.

Sommer closes the distance and pushes Melton back into the cage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Melton wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Sommer is trying to maintain a safe position but Melton gets an underhook and turns Sommer into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melton tries to circle away but Sommer has him pinned against the cage. Melton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sommer gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Melton missing with knees to the body.
Melton tries to break free but Sommer pushes him back against the cage. Sommer turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sommer manages to end up in side control. Melton throws Sommer to one side and escapes! Sommer looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Sommer gets caught flat footed, as Melton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Sommer is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Melton dives into side control.
Sommer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sommer tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Melton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Melton controls the position. Jerrold Melton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sommer is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Melton's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Melton looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Melton lands a nice short elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Sommer gets back to full guard.
Melton drops back looking for a leg! Sommer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sommer manages to kick Melton off! Melton jumps back into Sommer's guard. Melton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Sommer has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Melton is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sommer.
And that's the end of the fight! Jerrold Melton showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Melton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
