The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watts throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A shot to the body from Watts misses
and De Andrade counters with a straight right hand.

De Andrade gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A head punch on the inside from De Andrade fails to land.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for De Andrade.

De Andrade breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A lazy left from Watts finds it's target.

and Watts counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Watts cracks De Andrade with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Watts motions for De Andrade to come forward. Watts throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

and De Andrade cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A clash of legs there as De Andrade blocks the low kick.
De Andrade misses with a wild body shot.
Watts was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Watts tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and De Andrade is able to avoid easily.
Carl Watts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Andrade takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
De Andrade throws a big counter combination but Watts scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

De Andrade pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Watts back to the cage. De Andrade follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Watts tried to score with a low kick but De Andrade checks it.

Watts swings away with a leg kick that misses.

De Andrade swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

and De Andrade counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
De Andrade drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
De Andrade checks the leg kick nicely there.
De Andrade tries to counter by clinching up but Watts breaks away and moves out of range.
De Andrade throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Watts's jaw, knocking him onto his back! De Andrade dives in looking to finish as Watts flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block De Andrade's strikes! De Andrade is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Watts's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Watts was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
