PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lacy Eaton (ranked 7279 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Lappers (ranked 5801 p4p, 573 weight class). Chris Lappers will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lappers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Eaton did well to prevent Lappers getting side control.

Lappers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eaton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Eaton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

and Lappers counters with a nice low kick that buckles Eaton's knee momentarily.

Lappers feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lappers manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Lappers fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Eaton avoids it really well and circles away.

Eaton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lappers with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Lappers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Eaton is fending him off so far but Lappers persists. Nope, Eaton circles away and we're back to standing.

Lappers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Eaton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Eaton has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lappers is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Eaton.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Eaton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
