PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Griffith (ranked 2831 p4p, 116 weight class) and En Esch (ranked 3305 p4p, 74 weight class). Esch is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Imperial March (L.O.D. Rage Mix). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Griffith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, En Esch!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Esch tries to close the distance and clinch but Griffith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Griffith is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Griffith misses with a body punch

and Esch counters with a crisp one two that drops Griffith! Esch thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Griffith to his feet! Griffith is in big trouble!

and Griffith counters with a right hand to the body.
Esch throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Griffith.
Esch is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Griffith fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Griffith lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Esch scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Griffith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Esch was well out of range. Poor timing from Griffith.
Griffith just misses with a punch to the body.

Esch gets in close and instigates a clinch.

A bit of stalling here from Griffith.
Esch misses with a knee to the head.
Griffith blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Esch throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Griffith blocks it with crossed arms.

Esch avoids a wild elbow strike from Griffith.
Griffith taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Esch tries to land a knee to the head but Griffith blocks with his arms.
Griffith pressing his opponent against the cage.
Esch tries to throw a body punch but Griffith avoids it by throwing Esch back against the cage.
Esch looking to throw knees to the head but Griffith is blocking nicely.
Griffith lands a shoulder strike.
Esch throws a knee to the head but misses.
Griffith on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Esch using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Griffith has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Griffith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Esch tries to land knees in the clinch but Griffith avoids the damage to the body.
Esch's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Griffith lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Griffith lands a hook that snaps the head of Esch backwards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Griffith is pushing Esch up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Griffith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Esch swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Griffith counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Griffith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Griffith circles away from the clinch attempt
and Griffith makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Esch looks winded!

Griffith drops Esch with a beautiful combination! Esch stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Griffith is looking for the KO!


Esch is rocked!


It looks like En Esch has been cut.
Esch wants to clinch
and Griffith counters with a right hand to the body.
Esch is still on wobbly legs! Can Griffith finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Esch circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Griffith. Esch falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Griffith!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Anthony Griffith!
A very excited looking Anthony Griffith rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
En Esch spoke after the fight, saying 'He cheated! Check his gloves, they've got chloroform on them!'.
