PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daichi Kishimoto (ranked 300 p4p, 39 weight class) and Jazz Clementine (ranked 1094 p4p, 119 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daichi Kishimoto!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jazz Clementine!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kishimoto gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Clementine counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Clementine lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kishimoto.

Clementine takes the fight into the clinch.

Clementine's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Clementine misses with a hook

and Kishimoto counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kishimoto.
Kishimoto prevents Clementine from getting back to his feet.

Kishimoto uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Clementine.
Kishimoto shoots in looking for a takedown. Clementine tries to sprawl out of it but Kishimoto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Clementine manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Clementine scores with a one two! Kishimoto had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

and Kishimoto counters with a nice double leg into side control. Clementine won't be happy with that.

Clementine tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kishimoto wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Clementine is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kishimoto has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Kishimoto tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kishimoto has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Clementine tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Clementine parries the strikes from Kishimoto easily there. Kishimoto is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Clementine to escape.

Clementine stops Kishimoto from passing to mount.

Kishimoto is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Clementine knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kishimoto shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Clementine as he avoids it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kishimoto drops back looking for a leg! Clementine is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Clementine manages to kick Kishimoto off! Kishimoto jumps back into Clementine's guard.

Daichi Kishimoto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Clementine feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kishimotos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Kishimoto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Clementine sprawls well initially but Kishimoto persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Clementine can do anything to dispel that myth.

Clementine manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Kishimoto keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kishimoto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Clementine is fending him off so far but Kishimoto persists. Nope, Clementine circles away and we're back to standing.

Clementine is trying to force a seperation but Kishimoto has the dominant position.
Clementine has had enough of the clinch but Kishimoto keeps him there for the moment.

Clementine escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Clementine keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jazz Clementine seems to be getting the better of the standup.
The fighters circle momentarily. Clementine darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

and Kishimoto counters with a shoot takedown. Clementine fights it but they end up in guard.

Kishimoto is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Clementine is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kishimoto is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Clementine knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kishimoto has hold of Clementine's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Clementine seems comfortable defending it but Kishimoto has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Clementine is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Clementine is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Kishimoto couldn't care less - he's delighted!
