Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drew Carvalho (ranked 1870 p4p, 172 weight class) and Dean Malenko (ranked 1594 p4p, 146 weight class). Carvalho comes to the cage accompanied by Wrecked-by PARKWAY DRIVE. Malenko has chosen WCW NITRO ENTRANCE SONG as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Drew Carvalho! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dean Malenko! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carvalho defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Malenko. Carvalho throws a head kick that misses. That kick from Carvalho tenderised Malenko's leg. Malenko is trying to keep his angry face on. Malenko goes for a double leg but Carvalho avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Carvalho continues to drive forward. Carvalho lands a body shot.
Malenko gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Carvalho. Carvalho is looking to slow Malenko down with leg kicks. Carvalho's corner calls for a 1-2. Carvalho obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Carvalho lands a head shot. Malenko shoots in for a takedown but Carvalho shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Drew Carvalho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dean Malenko. Malenko with a poor takedown and Carvalho counters with a nice leg kick. Carvalho tries to clinch but Malenko is having none of it. Carvalho throws a nice outside leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Malenko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Carvalho wants to stand and escape but Malenko is having none of it. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Malenko controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Malenko drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Malenko jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Carvalho wants to stand but Malenko is controlling the position. Malenko advances position into side control! Malenko working away. Malenko is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Carvalho looks calm but he's in trouble here. Malenko gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Carvalho is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Malenko lets go of the hold and Carvalho can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dean Malenko! Dean Malenko looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Im looking to put the 4 horseman back together....anyone seen Ric??'. The defeated Drew Carvalho had this to say: '......fluke.fucking fluke.'.
