Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ashley Montoya (ranked 25217 p4p, 0 weight class) and Asbjorn Rasmussen (ranked 5677 p4p, 651 weight class). Rasmussen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: BBoom BBoom-Momoland. Ashley Montoya has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ashley Montoya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Asbjorn Rasmussen!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rasmussen rushes Montoya and presses him up against the cage.

Rasmussen has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Montoya regains guard immediately.

Montoya had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rasmussen defends it easily.

Rasmussen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rasmussen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Montoya dives on top into guard.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rasmussen has eaten all the pies!
Montoya throws an elbow that misses. Rasmussen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Montoya's guard. Nice move by Rasmussen!

Rasmussen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Montoya has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rasmussen has managed to get both his arms back between Montoya's legs - danger averted.

Montoya has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rasmussen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rasmussen lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Oh Montoya is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Montoya will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Montoya is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Rasmussen decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Montoya, up you get!

Rasmussen tries to land a knee to the head but Montoya blocks with his arms.

Montoya goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rasmussen prevents it.

Rasmussen breaks from the clinch.
Montoya seems to have got his legs back now.
Rasmussen throws a sloppy head kick and Montoya moves out of range easily.

Montoya tries to close the distance and clinch but Rasmussen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Rasmussen moves into the clinch.
Montoya drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rasmussen pulls his leg out and moves away.
Montoya tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rasmussen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rasmussen forces Montoya back against the cage and clinches.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rasmussen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rasmussen misses with a series of wild punches.
Montoya changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Montoya doesn't manage to clinch there - Rasmussen circles away.
Rasmussen throws a big counter head kick but Montoya avoids it with no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Asbjorn Rasmussen dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Montoya avoids a punch combination nicely.
Montoya tries to counter with a takedown but Rasmussen is quick to defend against it.
Rasmussen lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rasmussen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Montoya swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Asbjorn Rasmussen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rasmussen prevents the takedown attempt.

Montoya goes for a double leg but Rasmussen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rasmussen continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ashley Montoya. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Montoya changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rasmussen tries to avoid it but Montoya manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rasmussen to the ground. Rasmussen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rasmussen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Montoya is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rasmussen to keep the fight standing.

Rasmussen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Montoya closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rasmussen is not content to let Montoya control the position.
Rasmussen wants to improve his position but Montoya is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ashley Montoya will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Rasmussen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Montoya avoids it really well and circles away.
Montoya tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rasmussen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Rasmussen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Montoya has his foot on Rasmussen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rasmussen works his way back into a safe position though.

No joy there for Rasmussen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Montoya lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Montoya checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Montoya shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rasmussen sprawls well. Rasmussen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Montoya gets slowly back to his feet.

Asbjorn Rasmussen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rasmussen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Asbjorn Rasmussen misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
