Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, David Kelly! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Falcone! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kelly feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Falcones jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Kelly walks into a jab.
It looks like David Kelly has been cut. Falcone throws a good cross that connects.
Kelly drives through and clinches with Falcone against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Kelly fails to land. Kelly working aggressively here.
Falcone wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kelly lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Kelly lands a right hand. Falcone blocks an uppercut.
Falcone blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A short uppercut from Kelly. Falcone tries to break the clinch but Kelly is controlling the position. Kelly misses with a short punch on the inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kelly misses with the head strike.
Kelly misses with a hook from the clinch. Kelly misses with some punches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kelly. Kelly throws a punch but it's blocked by Falcone. Kelly misses with the head strike.
Kelly misses with some punches.
Falcone blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Kelly misses with a punch on the inside.
The referee is keeping an eye on Falcone - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Falcone looking to slow down the pace here. I was talking to Kelly's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Kelly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kelly doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Nice shot lands for Kelly. Falcone throws a jab when Kelly was well out of range. Kelly wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Kelly ducks right into an uppercut from Falcone. Kelly showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Falcone.
Kelly scores with a crisp jab that stopped Falcone in his tracks. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kelly tries to move into range but Falcone moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Falcone fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kelly looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Kelly gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Falcone gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Anthony Falcone! A less than humble Anthony Falcone misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
