The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boone on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by John. John obviously looking to wear him down.
John gets in close and instigates a clinch.
John scores with a hook to the body.
Boone throws a punch but it's blocked by John.
Boone has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Boone jumps guard but John turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
John goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Boone fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Boone is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables John to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Boone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A right hand to the body from John.
Boone avoids the elbow strike from John, against the cage.
John manages to break the clinch.
Boone throws an overhand right that lands on John's shoulder, as John tries to avoid the shot.
Boone tries for a takedown but John sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from John! But no joy.
Boone on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Boone throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
John swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

It looks like Robert Boone has been cut.

John dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

John appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Boone throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
John misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Boone.
John fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Boone has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Boone uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by John.
John rushes Boone and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
John pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Boone jumps guard but John turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Boone takes a knee right on the jaw!
Boone tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. John just stands there and leans against the cage.
Boone tries to pull guard but John won't allow it.
Boone takes a shot to the head.
John lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
A short body shot lands from John as the two fighters clinch.
Boone is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables John to keep the fight standing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boone blocks the elbow strike.
John throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Boones head.
John lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Boone or not.
Boone is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
John lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Boone jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as John walks away with a smile on his face. Boone gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from John! Boone is out on his feet! John rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Boone is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Boone is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Scott John! Scott John retains his heavyweight title!
