Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Altair Brain (ranked 4778 p4p, 508 weight class) and Winslow Berhardt (ranked 2177 p4p, 256 weight class). Brain's entrance music is 300 Violin. A fine choice. Altair Brain has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Altair Brain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Winslow Berhardt!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berhardt showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Brain.
Berhardt fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Brain stuffs the takedown.
Berhardt shoots in for a takedown but Brain shows good takedown defense.
Berhardt has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Brain is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Altair Brain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Winslow Berhardt.
Berhardt darts in looking for a takedown but Brain gets double underhooks and turns Berhardt into the cage.

We've been hearing reports that Brain has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Brain looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

enabling Brain to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Winslow Berhardt has been cut.
Brain feints and then cracks Berhardt's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Berhardt down.

Brain will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Brain throws the left hand but Berhardt avoids the punch easily.
Brain wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Brain throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Berhardt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Brain misses with a looping left.

Berhardt pushes Brain up against the cage in a clinch.
Berhardt is trying to drag Brain to the mat but Brain just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Brain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Berhardt counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Brain thinking.
Brain slaps away a takedown attempt from Berhardt, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Brain misses with a looping left.

Berhardt has closed the distance and engaged Brain in a clinch.

Berhardt misses with some punches.
Berhardt swings wildly with an uppercut but Brain uses good head movement to avoid it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Berhardt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Brain throws out a loose jab but Berhardt uses good head movement to avoid it.
Berhardt tries to clinch but Brain is having none of it.

Brain darts in and clinches Berhardt up against the cage.

Brain breaks the clinch.

Berhardt takes the fight into the clinch.
Berhardt prevents a body shot from Brain.
Berhardt misses with a short punch on the inside.
Berhardt lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Brain tries to throw a body punch but Berhardt avoids it by throwing Brain back against the cage.

Brain is pressed up against the cage. Berhardt has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brain down to the mat. Brain avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Berhardt shoots in looking for a takedown. Brain tries to sprawl out of it but Berhardt keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brain manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Brain moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Berhardt avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Brain takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Berhardt has a takedown stuffed.

Brain lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Brain lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Brain fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Berhardt has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Brain creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Berhardt is looking for a takedown.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Berhardt shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Berhardt was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Berhardt might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brain haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Berhardt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Brain is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Brain's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Brain has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Berhardt to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Brain is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Berhardt pulls down on the head and he's put Brain to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Winslow Berhardt!
Winslow Berhardt gave a mention to Pit Bull Development in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
In defeat, Altair Brain stepped up to the mic, saying 'It happenes sometimes, but I thought I was better today. Sometimes you lose like this.'.
