The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaft rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lee Urlich moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Shaft misses with a combination
and Lee Urlich counters with a nice body kick.
Shaft throws a right and a left that Lee Urlich avoids nicely.
Shaft misses with a two punch combination.
Shaft lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Lee Urlich tries to counter by clinching up but Shaft breaks away and moves out of range.
Shaft misses with a double jab

and Lee Urlich counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lee Urlich .
Shaft is trying to push Lee Urlich away but Lee Urlich has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Shaft has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Shaft wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lee Urlich keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Shaft's efforts to push away.
Shaft wants to break the clinch but can't.

Lee Urlich escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Shaft throws a right and a left that Lee Urlich avoids nicely.
Shaft misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lee Urlich swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Shaft looks to land a combination. Lee Urlich sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Shaft misses with a double jab.
Shaft looks winded!
Lee Urlich fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shaft.
Lee Urlich slips a jab and a cross from Shaft.
Shaft throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lee Urlich .
Shaft throws a right hand that Lee Urlich ducks under and follows up with a left that Lee Urlich also avoids with ease.

Shaft tries to keep at a distance but Lee Urlich has taken the fight into the clinch.
Shaft has had enough of the clinch but Lee Urlich keeps him there for the moment.
Lee Urlich is pushing Shaft up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Lee Urlich successfully pulls guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lee Urlich scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Crunch! Lee Urlich slams his shin into Shaft's torso.
Lee Urlich goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Lee Urlich tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Shaft manages to circle out of the way.
Ben Shaft is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lee Urlich shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shaft manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lee Urlich pushes down on Shaft's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Shaft is trying to stand.

Lee Urlich stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Shaft looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lee Urlich lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Shaft is rocked!

Lee Urlich closes the distance looking for a takedown. Shaft stuffs it but Lee Urlich still has hold of him. Lee Urlich picks Shaft up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Lee Urlich slams Shaft to the floor and that's really hurt Shaft - he doesn't know where he is! Lee Urlich throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
