Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Andrews (ranked 24105 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Vargas (ranked 5891 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roberto Andrews! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fernando Vargas! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Vargas as Andrews shoots in. Andrews swats away the attempt to clinch by Vargas. Vargas lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Vargas.
It looks like Roberto Andrews has been cut. Andrews gets caught napping as Vargas dives in and scores a takedown. Andrews manages to retain guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Andrews is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Andrews keeping moving, preventing Vargas from controlling successfully. That's one minute gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Andrews is on top in guard.
Andrews seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Vargas wants to improve his position but instead Andrews has moved into half guard.
Vargas is looking for a sweep. Andrews is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Andrews is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vargas is just riding it out for now. Andrews eventually gives up the hold. Andrews could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Andrews winds up and cracks Vargas with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Andrews slows the pace down in half guard. Andrews moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Vargas. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Vargas regains half guard. Vargas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Andrews is working away from the top position though. Andrews slows the pace down in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Andrews looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Andrews lands with a punch from half guard. Vargas is trying to control but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Andrews takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Vargas has hold of Andrews's hands but Andrews slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roberto Andrews dominated that round. The cut man is working on Roberto Andrews's cut. That's time! Andrews's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Andrews looks for a takedown but Vargas sprawls well. Vargas is looking to clinch but Andrews is avoiding it.
Vargas gets a double leg takedown into Andrews's guard. Andrews pushes Vargas off and scrambles back to his feet.
Andrews feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Vargas is wriggling around but Andrews manages to pass to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Andrews is thwarting Vargas's attempts to control the position. Vargas strikes from the bottom but Andrews uses the opportunity to move to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vargas is trying to control Andrews's posture but Andrews avoids it. Check out the look on Andrews's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Vargas sneaks back into half guard. Andrews is working for a submission of some sort.
Andrews in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Vargas tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Andrews!
