Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Downs (ranked 7564 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guillermo Rigondeaux (ranked 5805 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carlos Downs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Guillermo Rigondeaux!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rigondeaux closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Downs to the mat! Downs manages to get full guard.
Rigondeaux with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Downs lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Downs showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Downs postures up.
Rigondeaux wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rigondeaux has a closed guard, preventing Downs from standing up.
Downs sitting in guard here, content to control.

Downs working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Downs throws a big elbow that misses.
Rigondeaux is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rigondeaux is working an open guard so Downs takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rigondeaux fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Downs shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rigondeaux as he jumps to the side.
Rigondeaux shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Downs eats them both and turns towards Rigondeaux to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Downs takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Rigondeaux connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Rigondeaux closes the distance and clinches.

Rigondeaux manages to pull guard.

Rigondeaux has his foot on Downs's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Downs works his way back into a safe position though.

Rigondeaux is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Downs is controlling him.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rigondeaux is on top in guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Downs looking to control.
Rigondeaux looking to sit in guard and control but Downs gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Downs controls from within his opponent's guard.
Rigondeaux not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Rigondeaux bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rigondeaux scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Downs to see if he's OK.

Downs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rigondeaux's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rigondeaux's back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Downs is trying to stick to Rigondeaux's back but Rigondeaux is turning into Downs. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Downs's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Rigondeaux.

Downs is looking for a triangle but Rigondeaux pushes his legs off easily.

Downs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rigondeaux can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Downs can't keep his opponent in guard - Rigondeaux advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Downs tries to get to full guard but Rigondeaux has control of the leg.
Rigondeaux is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Rigondeaux is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Downs doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rigondeaux.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rigondeaux tries to stand and escape but Downs is controlling the position.
Rigondeaux is looking to take a break and control but Downs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Downs is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Guillermo Rigondeaux will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Rigondeaux is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Downs has managed to free his arm - good work.

Downs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Guillermo Rigondeaux comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rigondeaux has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
