Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Craig Bartholemew (ranked 5559 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Perez Saavedra (ranked 3380 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Craig Bartholemew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Luis Perez Saavedra!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saavedra closes the distance and clinches.
Saavedra fails to pull guard.

Bartholemew jumps into guard, dragging Saavedra to the mat.
Bartholemew controls Saavedra momentarily but Saavedra frees himself.
Saavedra looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Saavedra throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bartholemew works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bartholemew shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Saavedra sprawls well. Saavedra wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bartholemew gets slowly back to his feet.

Saavedra clinches.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bartholemew drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saavedra is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bartholemew can't keep his opponent in guard - Saavedra advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Saavedra not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Saavedra misses with a head shot. Bartholemew uses the momentum to regain guard.
Bartholemew manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Saavedra manages to get himself to full guard.

Saavedra can't keep his opponent in guard - Bartholemew advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bartholemew is looking to pass Saavedra's guard but actually Saavedra recovers to full guard.

Saavedra has control of Bartholemew's left arm, preventing Bartholemew from doing any damage.
Bartholemew stays in close to Saavedra's body and controls the position.
Bartholemew missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Bartholemew wants to control from the top but Saavedra keeps moving.

Saavedra controls Bartholemew momentarily but Bartholemew frees himself.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Craig Bartholemew will probably get the nod.

Saavedra slaps away a takedown attempt from Bartholemew, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bartholemew leaves Saavedra with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Saavedra has gone for a leg lock! Bartholemew slips out almost immediately though and dives into Saavedra's guard.

Saavedra wants to stand and escape but Bartholemew is having none of it.
Saavedra keeping moving, preventing Bartholemew from controlling successfully.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bartholemew stuffs the takedown attempt from Saavedra. Saavedra gets slowly back to his feet.

and Saavedra connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Saavedra swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Bartholemew attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Saavedra rushes Bartholemew and presses him up against the cage.
Saavedra is trying to pull guard but Bartholemew turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luis Perez Saavedra showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Saavedra moves into the clinch.
Bartholemew has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Saavedra is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Bartholemew tries for a takedown but Saavedra manages to get underhooks.

Saavedra breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bartholemew moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

The referee asks Saavedra politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Saavedra prefers to stall for the moment though.

Bartholemew tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Saavedra wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Bartholemew is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Saavedra off and has taken his back!

Saavedra is keeping busy.
Saavedra tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Saavedra is squirming around, avoiding Bartholemew's attempts to control the action.
Saavedra sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Saavedra tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Saavedra is controlling Bartholemew's trapped leg to prevent Bartholemew from advancing to side control.
Saavedra manages to get to full guard.
Bartholemew trying to control but Saavedra is working from the bottom.
Saavedra is looking to stand up but Bartholemew isn't so interested in that idea.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Luis Perez Saavedra comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Saavedra has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
