Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maykol Yurk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fernando Bruno Silva! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yurk moves into the clinch successfully.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Bruno Silva tries to pull guard but Yurk won't allow it.
Yurk has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bruno Silva after a bit of a struggle. Bruno Silva wants to take the fight to the mat but Yurk manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Bruno Silva gets control of Yurk's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bruno Silva will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Bruno Silva being controlled here, momentarily. Yurk wants to stand but Bruno Silva is controlling his posture from full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yurk drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Yurk jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bruno Silva throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Bruno Silva seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Bruno Silva wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Yurk is now in half guard. Bruno Silva keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Bruno Silva pushes Yurk off looking to stand but Yurk dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Bruno Silva preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Yurk sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bruno Silva defending well though. Bruno Silva is pressing down on Yurk's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Yurk postures up.
Yurk's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Bruno Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yurk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Yurk is trying to buck Bruno Silva off. Bruno Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bruno Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bruno Silva tries to score with some ground and pound. Yurk controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Yurk is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bruno Silva off and has taken his back! Bruno Silva rolls, trying to escape but Yurk keeps control of the position.
Bruno Silva is trying to control the position but Yurk manages to sink in the RNC - Bruno Silva is forced to tap!
