Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Amos Romero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vasily Dvornikov! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dvornikov has closed the distance and engaged Romero in a clinch.
Dvornikov gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Romero knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dvornikov on the ground. Dvornikov being controlled here momentarily. Romero is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dvornikov lands a couple of elbows. Dvornikov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Romero swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dvornikov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romero has momentary wrist control but Dvornikov slips an elbow through the middle. Romero wants to control but Dvornikov passes easily into half guard.
Dvornikov wants to free his trapped foot but Romero is holding on for dear life with his legs. Dvornikov content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Romero wants to control but Dvornikov is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Dvornikov drops an elbow to the side of Romero's head. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dvornikov in particular looking to stall. Romero is trying to stand up here but Dvornikov is controlling him well. Dvornikov postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Romero to stand up. Dvornikov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Romero! Romero bucks up and tries to throw Dvornikov off but instead Dvornikov has got his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dvornikov is punishing Romero with some ground and pound. Dvornikov controls the action. Romero covers up after that shot from Dvornikov.
Romero is rocked!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dvornikov lands strikes from the back and Romero isn't doing enough to escape the position. The referee steps in to end the fight.
