Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, eddy vazquez! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aris Lithoxoidis ! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lithoxoidis shoots in but no luck this time. Some wild striking there from vazquez.
Lithoxoidis swats away the attempt to clinch by vazquez. vazquez tries a head kick but it misses.
vazquez throws a head kick that Lithoxoidis semi-blocks.
vazquez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lithoxoidis swats him away and circles back towards the center. A head kick misses from vazquez. vazquez misses with a leg kick. vazquez tries to close the distance and clinch but Lithoxoidis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. vazquez tries to clinch up but Lithoxoidis circles away and keeps his distance. A cross from vazquez lands. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. vazquez throws a right and a left that both miss. vazquez misses with a few strikes there.
Lithoxoidis gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. vazquez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lithoxoidis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. vazquez swings away with a leg kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lithoxoidis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lithoxoidis lands in his opponent's guard. vazquez trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Lithoxoidis stands and throws vazquez's legs to the side, diving into side control. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Lithoxoidis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. vazquez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. vazquez is trying to get back to half guard. vazquez sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. vazquez is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Lithoxoidis pulls his head out easily. vazquez strikes from the bottom but Lithoxoidis uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Lithoxoidis lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear vazquez down.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lithoxoidis postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's three minutes gone in the round. vazquez looking for submissions off his back. vazquez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Lithoxoidis is taking a breather. vazquez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. vazquez wants to get back to full guard. Lithoxoidis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. vazquez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Lithoxoidis content just to control the position here. Lithoxoidis working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. vazquez turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Lithoxoidis off and cradles vazquez's limp body as Lithoxoidis celebrates with his corner.
