Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerald Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Psycho Killer- Talking Heads. Wilson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rocky Road to Dublin - Dropkick Murphys. Peter Burns has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Burns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jerald Wilson! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Wilson.
Wilson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Burns feints and as Wilson raises his hands in defense, Burns changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Burns throwing strikes from guard but Wilson blocks nicely. Burns slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Burns postures up.
Burns pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wilson is keeping the position for now. Wilson wants to control the position but Burns says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Burns looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Burns winds up and cracks Wilson with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Burns lands strikes from half guard. Burns content to control rather than advance. Burns prevents Wilson from improving his position.

Burns drops an elbow to the side of Wilson's head. Burns perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Burns decides to stand and escape the position. Wilson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wilson misses with a takedown attempt and Burns counters with a shoot takedown. Wilson fights it but they end up in guard. Burns decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Wilson, up you get! Wilson closes the distance but Burns moves to the side and Burns counters by moving into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A short right from Burns on the inside. Wilson lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Burns tries to pull guard but Wilson holds him up against the cage and eventually Burns drops back down to his feet.
Burns stalling in the clinch but Wilson improves position. Burns tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Wilson's elbow. Wilson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Burns avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Wilson fails to pull guard.
Peter Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerald Wilson. Wilson jumps into guard, dragging Burns to the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Burns controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Wilson looking to control.
Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Wilson wants to sweep here but Burns controlling him for the moment. Burns has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Burns trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burns is working hard here to advance position. Burns controls from within his opponent's guard. Burns has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Burns keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Wilson's head. Burns makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Burns landing some decent shots from guard. Burns slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Burns pushing down on Wilson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burns works his way into side control. Burns is chipping away with strikes.
Burns happy to just control the position for now. Burns wants to control but Wilson is keeping him busy. Wilson is trying to get back to half guard. Burns cracks Wilson with a big right hand but Wilson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Burns controlling the position from side mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peter Burns dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Burns fails with the takedown and Wilson counters with a straight right hand. Jerald Wilson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wilson tries to keep at a distance but Burns has taken the fight into the clinch. Burns manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Wilson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Burns breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Burns tries to clinch there but Wilson circles away.
Wilson fails with the takedown and Burns counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wilson's guard now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burns stands and throws Wilson's legs to the side, diving into side control. Burns just content to control the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burns in the domination position with Wilson hanging on. Burns trying to control the position but Wilson is working away. Wilson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Wilson trying to control from the bottom.
Burns seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Wilson gets back to full guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Peter Burns just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Burns shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burns prevents Wilson from getting the reversal. Burns content just to control the position here. A nice elbow there by Burns. Peter Burns overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Burns is standing up, even though he is in mount. Burns misses with a takedown attempt - Wilson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Wilson tries to clinch but Burns moves away and Burns counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Wilson is lucky that one didn't land flush. Wilson forces Burns back against the cage and clinches. Burns pulls Wilson into guard.
Wilson is looking to stand up but Burns won't let him. Burns managing to control the position. Burns wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wilson thows a big elbow that misses. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Burns holds on and takes a little breather. Wilson wants to pass the guard but Burns is keeping the position. Burns wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Wilson tries to stand but Burns is controlling from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Burns has control of Wilson's left arm, preventing Wilson from doing any damage. Wilson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Burns is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Burns looking for a sweep. Not yet Burns, not yet. Burns is controlling Wilson's posture. Burns trying to keep a closed guard but Wilson is proving a slippery customer.

Wilson closes the distance looking to clinch and Burns counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Wilson! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Burns looking to control and managing it successfully. Wilson has one foot on Burns's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Wilson misses with a takedown and Burns counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Burns wants to free his trapped foot but Wilson is holding on for dear life with his legs. Wilson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Wilson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Burns is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wilson can do to turn this around? Burns pushing down on Wilson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Burns is taking a breather. Wilson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Wilson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Burns seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Wilson for as long as he can get away with.

He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wilson's guard. Burns controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Wilson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Burns is one step ahead there. Burns gets to his feet - Wilson follows without any prompting.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wilson thows a body kick. Burns tries to catch it but that hurt him. Burns plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Wilson throws a series of punches but Burns avoids them all with ease. Burns closes the distance and clinches. Wilson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Wilson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Burns drags the fight down to the ground.
Burns seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Wilson is looking to stand up but Burns won't let him. Burns is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Burns working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Burns can't keep his opponent in guard - Wilson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilson trying to mount his opponent but Burns defends it. Burns is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wilson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wilson's back! Wilson turns into Burns and is now in his guard.
Wilson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Burns pulls Wilson in close to prevent any damage. Wilson postures up and lands a big shot to Burns's brow. Burns seems keen to control Wilson's posture. Wilson tries to stand but Burns is controlling from the bottom. Burns is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Burns pulls Wilson in to control the position. Burns is trying to control the position but Wilson postures up. Wilson trying to control the position from guard on top but Burns is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wilson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Burns looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Burns looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Burns! Jerald Wilson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wilson misses with an elbow from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter Burns showed his dominance in that final round. Well Burns has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
