Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stephan Potvin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Sillinger! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Potvin wants to clinch. Sillinger loads up on a big right hand but Potvin slips the punch. Potvin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Potvin shoots in for a double leg but Sillinger sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Nice defenses there by Sillinger. Potvin wants to clinch. Sillinger rushes Potvin and presses him up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Potvin stops a takedown attempt from Sillinger.
Potvin wants to break the clinch but can't.

Sillinger lands an elbow just above Potvin 's eye. Sillinger escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sillinger shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Potvin tries to lock up and control but Sillinger gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sillinger connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Potvin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Sillinger unloads with some shots from mount but Potvin bucks and avoids them well.
Sillinger controlling the pace for now. Sillinger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Potvin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Potvin is trying to stand. Sillinger sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Sillinger throws some wild stikes that Potvin manages to avoid easily.
Sillinger looking to control but Potvin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Sillinger throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Potvin wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Potvin is desperately trying to improve his position but Sillinger has a good base and remains in mount. Sillinger is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Potvin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Potvin! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sillinger keeping moving, preventing Potvin from controlling successfully. Sillinger wants to stand up but Potvin is controlling him. Sillinger looks gassed! Potvin controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Sillinger wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Sillinger keeping moving, preventing Potvin from controlling successfully. Potvin is looking to stand up but Sillinger won't let him. Potvin prevents Sillinger from getting back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sillinger throws a nice looking combination but Potvin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Potvin lands a nice hook to Sillinger's body. Sillinger takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Sillinger avoids the head kick by Potvin.
Potvin misses with a takedown and Sillinger counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stephan Potvin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Potvin shoots in for a takedown but Sillinger shows good takedown defense. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michael Sillinger dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Potvin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Potvin works a leg free and moves into half guard. Potvin is tying to control. Sillinger wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Potvin in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Sillinger tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Potvin!
