PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Justin Wyderko (ranked 5791 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dongsu Kim (ranked 5822 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Justin Wyderko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dongsu Kim!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim misses with a head kick.
Kim lands with a kick to the temple. Wyderko shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Wyderko throws a lazy head kick
and Kim makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Kim misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wyderko.
Kim fails with a takedown attempt.
Wyderko misses with a takedown attempt - Kim sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Wyderko fails in his attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kim has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wyderko tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kim smiles and moves away.
Kim misses with a head kick.
Kim misses with the combination.
Wyderko changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Kim changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wyderko tries to avoid it but Kim manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wyderko to the ground. Wyderko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kim misses with a takedown attempt - Wyderko sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Justin Wyderko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dongsu Kim.
Kim shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wyderko as he jumps to the side.
Wyderko seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Kim clinches.

Kim's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wyderko misses with a kick to the body.
Wyderko throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Kim stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kim wants it to stay on the feet.
Kim is looking for the big counter here.
Wyderko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kim swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kim misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wyderko wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Wyderko doesn't manage to clinch there - Kim circles away.
Wyderko looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kim is fending him off so far but Wyderko persists. Nope, Kim circles away and we're back to standing.

Kim rushes Wyderko and presses him up against the cage.
Wyderko tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kim just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kim tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Kim breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kim circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wyderko shoots in for a double leg but Kim sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kim tries to counter with a clinch but Wyderko shakes him off and moves away.
Kim connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kim shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kim looks winded!

Wyderko throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kim's waist but Kim gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wyderko off to one side.
Kim looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wyderko is fending him off so far but Kim persists. Nope, Wyderko circles away and we're back to standing.
Wyderko lands a front kick.
Wyderko tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kim slaps away a takedown attempt from Wyderko, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Thud! ouch! good body kick from Wyderko - that will leave a mark!
Wyderko lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Kim defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wyderko.
Wyderko scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Kim tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wyderko defends well and Kim ends up having to push Wyderko into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Wyderko appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Wyderko shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kim as he jumps to the side.

and Kim counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kim jumps guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kim wants to sweep but no luck.
Wyderko passes into half guard.
Kim is staying active underneath Wyderko, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dongsu Kim dominated that round.
That's time! Wyderko's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kim looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Wyderko tries to pull guard but Kim won't allow it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Wyderko. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kim pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown attempt by Wyderko or perhaps it was just good defense by Kim, which made it look bad.

Kim moves into the clinch.
Wyderko tries to circle away but Kim has him pinned against the cage.
Kim scores with a shot to the side of Wyderko's head.
A bit of stalling here from Kim.
Wyderko prevents a takedown attempt there.

Kim breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wyderko fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kim has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kim shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kim was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wyderko is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kim off and has taken his back!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wyderko is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Even with his hooks in, Wyderko manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Kim tries to roll but Wyderko sticks to his back.

Wyderko is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wyderko gets his hands free as Kim looks to control.
Kim trying to get back to his feet but Wyderko is in full control for now.
Wyderko struggling to land strikes to the head as Kim covers up.
Kim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wyderko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Wyderko looking to break Kim's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Kim remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Wyderko will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

A close second round but Dongsu Kim will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Nice takedown defense from Kim. No joy for Wyderko on that attempt.
Wyderko leaves Kim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Wyderko ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wyderko no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kim is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kim pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Wyderko back to the cage. Kim follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Danga de danga de dang - Kim scores with a four punch combination!
Kim tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wyderko swivels and escapes.

Kim shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wyderko as he avoids it easily.
Wyderko wants to clinch up but Kim keeps it at a distance.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kim.
Wyderko darts in looking for a takedown but Kim gets double underhooks and turns Wyderko into the cage.
Wyderko closes the distance and clinches up with Kim, looking for a takedown. Wyderko pushes Kim against the cage but Kim circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kim tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wyderko sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kim somewhat.
Wyderko is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kim.
Wyderko throws a right and a left that both miss.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Wyderko.
Justin Wyderko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wyderko gets tackled into the cage by Kim. Kim maintains the clinch.

Kim shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wyderko as he jumps to the side.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
