Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mateus Monte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henrique Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Costa has chosen I gotta feeling as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mateus Monte! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henrique Costa! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monte scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Costa wants to get back to his feet. Monte controls the position. Monte is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Costa has escaped the position, nice work there. Monte decides to take the fight back to the feet. Monte has a takedown stuffed. Costa throws a head kick that misses. Costa shoots for a takedown but Monte saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Costa throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Costa misses with a takedown and Monte counters by moving into the clinch. Monte's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Monte's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Monte fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monte is looking to clinch. Monte wants to clinch. Monte moves in looking to clinch but Costa pushes him off. Costa shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Costa showed some decent athleticism there. Costa looks gassed! Costa thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Monte's head. Monte moves into full guard.
Monte has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Costa off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Costa darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Monte looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monte trying to hold on to Costa's head to control him but Costa postures up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Costa connects with a nice short shot to Monte's temple. Costa wants to pass to mount but Monte is defending the position. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Costa lands a nice short elbow. Monte is pressing down on Costa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Costa won't allow Monte to get back to his feet. Monte has momentary wrist control but Costa slips an elbow through the middle. Costa scoring with some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monte wants to get back to his feet but Costa passes into half guard.
Costa stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Monte to get to his feet. Costa scores a takedown into full mount! Monte is looking to improve his position but Costa isn't that keen on the idea. Monte is working hard here to advance position. Monte takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Costa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Monte tries to hold on but Costa postures up. Monte wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Monte is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Costa landing strikes from the mount and Monte is in trouble! Monte is looking to get to half guard. Costa lands a big elbow. Monte tries to lock up and control but Costa gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Costa lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Henrique Costa will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Costa tries for a takedown but Monte circles away easily and Monte counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Costa throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Monte closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Costa to the mat! Costa manages to get full guard. Monte stands up from Costa's guard - Monte perhaps looking for a knockout. Monte has managed to clinch.
Costa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Monte drives through and clinches with Costa against the cage.
Monte blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Monte pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Monte lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Costa with a poor takedown and Monte counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Costa regains full guard. Nicely done. Costa is looking to sweep but instead, Monte has passed into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Costa trying to hold on to Monte's head to control him but Monte postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monte lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Costa trying to control here.
Costa tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Costa is looking to escape. Monte blocks the strikes from Costa.
Monte stands up out of the half guard. Costa shoots in for a double leg but Monte sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Mateus Monte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henrique Costa. Costa fails with the takedown and Monte counters with a head kick. That will keep Costa thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Costa tries for a takedown but Monte circles away easily and Monte counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Costa!

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Costa rolls, trying to escape but Monte keeps control of the position.

Monte pulls guard. Monte thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Costa works over Monte with some ground and pound from guard. Costa wanted to stand there but Monte had control of the position. Costa pushing down on Monte's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Monte on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Monte tries to roll over but Costa keeps him under control. Monte is trying to stand up here but Costa is controlling him well. Monte pushes Costa off and gets back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A right-left combo lands from Costa. Costa tries for a takedown but Monte sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Costa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Monte counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Monte seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Costa makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Costa with a lazy takedown attempt and Monte counters with a nice double leg into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Monte decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Costa, up you get! Costa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Costa prevents Monte from standing back up.

Mateus Monte dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Monte tries to clinch but Costa is having none of it. Costa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Monte pinned against the cage. Monte gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Monte clinches with his opponent.

Monte looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Costa is fending him off so far but Monte persists. Nope, Costa circles away and we're back to standing. Costa takes the fight into the clinch. Costa wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Costa has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Monte avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Mateus Monte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henrique Costa. Monte gets through Costa's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Monte breaks from the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monte closes the distance looking to clinch and Costa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Costa loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Monte is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Costa postures up.
Monte kicks Costa off and gets to his feet. Monte is looking to clinch but Costa is avoiding it.
Monte tries to close the distance and clinch up but Costa swats him away and circles back towards the center. Monte wants to clinch and Costa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Monte goes for a takedown attempt but Costa pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Costa lands a nice uppercut. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Monte takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Costa with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Costa is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Costa breaks from the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Monte looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Costa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Monte moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Costa doesn't succeed with the takedown and Monte counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Monte prevents Costa from breaking the clinch. Monte is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Costa can't fight it off and eventually Monte manages to take the fight to the floor. Costa looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Costa wriggles free and stands up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monte tries for a takedown but Costa sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Costa rushes Monte and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. A battle for position here, against the cage. Monte stalling the fight.
Monte unloads a knee to the mid-section. Costa lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Monte drags the fight down to the ground.
Costa has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Monte is proving hard to escape from. Monte looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Costa won't allow Monte to get back to his feet. Costa postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Monte is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Monte lands with a short shot to the head. Costa breaks the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monte drives through and clinches with Costa against the cage.
Monte's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Costa circles away from the clinch attempt.
Monte fails to land the takedown. Costa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Monte misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Costa fails with a takedown attempt. Monte shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Costa pinned against the cage. Costa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Costa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Costa lands a hook to the side of the head. Monte scores with a shot to the side of Costa's head.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Henrique Costa. I think Costa has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
