Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Erich Stanley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leo Granite! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Granite clinches. Granite tightens his grip and picks Stanley up, before dumping him to the ground. Stanley manages to land in guard. Stanley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Granite stands up from guard. Let's bang! Granite lands a slapping body shot.
Horrible takedown attempt by Stanley or perhaps it was just good defense by Granite, which made it look bad. A nice combination there by Granite.
It looks like Erich Stanley has been cut. The fighters circling - Granite throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Granite thuds a left hand into Stanley's body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Granite scores with a takedown into Stanley's guard. Granite is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Stanley really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill... It looks like Granite might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Granite lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Granite stops Stanley from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Granite scoring with some ground and pound. Stanley can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Granite controls the pace. Stanley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Granite stands up and waves to Stanley to follow him. Granite misses with a series of wild punches.
Stanley lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Granite fails to land with a series of punches.
Granite fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stanley to the ground. Granite is now in Stanley's guard. Granite gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Granite shoots in and gets a takedown into Stanley's guard. Granite is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Stanley striking off his back but it's not causing Granite any problems. Granite working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Stanley's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stanley is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Granite makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Stanley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Granite is stalling in the full guard. Granite works over Stanley with some ground and pound from guard. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Granite controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Granite pushes down on Stanley's leg and manages to get into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Granite sitting and controlling from the half guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Stanley wants to control but Granite is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Granite controlling the action here. Granite slips a nice elbow through Stanley's hands, connecting with Stanley's forehead. Still in half guard, Granite seems content to control. Let's hope that Granite has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Granite is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Stanley on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Granite in particular looking to stall. Granite decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Granite misses with a few strikes there.
Stanley tries to sprawl but Granite drives through with a takedown into half guard. Granite prevents Stanley from improving his position. Stanley wants to control but Granite is keeping busy.
Granite stops Stanley from getting back to his feet.
Granite drops an elbow to the side of Stanley's head. Granite looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Granite looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Leo Granite dominated that round. The cut man is working on Erich Stanley's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Granite closes the distance and clinches. Granite softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Stanley is trying to stall.
Granite has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Stanley clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Granite controlling from the back. Stanley is trying to get back to his feet but Granite has full control of the position and if anything, Stanley has just worked his way into a worse spot. Granite controls the action. Granite is continuing to stall. Granite lands a shot to the head. Granite punches Stanley on the ear.
Stanley is rocked! Stanley is trying to remain composed but Granite is hammering down strikes to the side of his head. Oh Stanley is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Granite lands a good shot there. Stanley covers up! Granite smells blood and goes for the finish - the referee warns Stanley to improve his position but he's not intelligently defending himself and the referee has no choice but to step in and end the fight! Granite jumps to his feet and celebrates the important win with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leo Granite! A relieved looking Leo Granite thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
