PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lord Viceroy (ranked 4791 p4p, 399 weight class) and Danny Mc Elroy (ranked 3668 p4p, 322 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 40 - 35 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lord Viceroy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Mc Elroy!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mc Elroy avoids the body shot from Viceroy.
Viceroy throws a body shot but no joy.

A jab-cross combination lands for Mc Elroy and sends Viceroy crashing to the mat! Mc Elroy follows him down to the mat - Viceroy regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


It looks like Lord Viceroy has been cut.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mc Elroy working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Mc Elroy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Viceroy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mc Elroy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Mc Elroy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mc Elroy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Viceroy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mc Elroy was well out of range. Poor timing from Viceroy.

Viceroy tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Viceroy throws a punch but it's blocked by Mc Elroy.

Mc Elroy cracks Viceroy with a nice body shot.

Mc Elroy drags the fight down to the ground.

Mc Elroy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Viceroy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mc Elroy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Viceroy's guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mc Elroy perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Mc Elroy is nestled in close to Viceroy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Mc Elroy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Viceroy keeps working.
Mc Elroy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Viceroy's shoulder. That is not cool.
Mc Elroy sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Viceroy is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Mc Elroy has hold of Viceroy's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Viceroy tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mc Elroy cranks the arm and Viceroy screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Viceroy, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Danny Mc Elroy!
During a confident post fight interview, Danny Mc Elroy thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
