Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Federico Shelton (ranked 8659 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Ryder (ranked 5669 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Federico Shelton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Ryder! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shelton shoots in looking for a takedown but Ryder manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shelton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Ryder looks to score with a jab to the body but Shelton is just out of range. Ryder closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Shelton is looking to reverse the position. Shelton is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Ryder is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ryder wants to control but Shelton is keeping him busy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ryder wants to work for an arm triangle but Shelton is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ryder throws a strike but Shelton avoids it easily and moves to full guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shelton is on top in guard.
Shelton trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ryder looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Shelton distracts Ryder with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Shelton working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ryder avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ryder working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Shelton. Ryder is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryder tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ryder utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Shelton scoring with punches to the head and body. Shelton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Shelton throws a big elbow that misses. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Shelton in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ryder darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Shelton looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shelton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Shelton trying to control from the bottom.
Ryder is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shelton wants to control but Ryder is keeping busy.
Ryder not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ryder stalling away here and it's allowed Shelton to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Ryder is looking to advance position but Shelton has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Ryder looks winded! Shelton breaks from Ryder's wrist control and lands an elbow. BOOM! Shelton connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Shelton can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ryder is looking to escape. Shelton working the ground and pound effectively.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ryder is squirming around, avoiding Shelton's attempts to control the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryder tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shelton paws at him with a jab and circles away. Ryder looks to land a combination but Shelton avoids it well. Ryder moves into the clinch. Ryder tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Shelton. Shelton is trying to break free. Ryder pulls guard effortlessly. Shelton trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shelton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ryder working a defensive guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ryder keeping moving, preventing Shelton from controlling successfully. Shelton cracks Ryder with a solid left hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ryder avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ryder is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Shelton working some strikes from top position. Shelton controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Shelton wants to control from the top but Ryder keeps moving. Ryder wants to stand up but Shelton is controlling him. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Shelton content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Shelton scoring with some ground and pound. Shelton with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shelton's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Shelton wants to control from the top but Ryder keeps moving. Shelton has gone for a leg lock! Ryder slips out almost immediately though and dives into Shelton's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ryder postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ryder is looking to work some ground and pound but Shelton has wrist control. Ryder tries to stand but Shelton is controlling from the bottom. Ryder is breathing heavily. Shelton wants to sweep but no luck. Ryder trying to control the position from guard on top but Shelton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Federico Shelton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Shelton trying to keep a closed guard but Ryder is proving a slippery customer.
Ryder must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ryder gets to his feet - Shelton follows without any prompting. Shelton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ryder sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shelton somewhat.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ryder stopping the sweep attempt from Shelton. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Ryder showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Shelton avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Shelton fails with a takedown attempt. Ryder moves into range and clinches up with Shelton. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ryder is trying to trip Shelton. He has hold of a leg but Shelton is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ryder persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Ryder won't allow Shelton to sweep him here. Ryder stands and throws Shelton's legs to the side, diving into side control. Ryder trying to control the action but Shelton is working from the bottom. Ryder takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shelton is trying to control Ryder's posture but Ryder avoids it. Shelton is trying to improve his position. Shelton wants to control but Ryder postures up. Ryder stands up. Shelton looks for a takedown but Ryder sprawls well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Shelton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ryder throws out a leg kick but Shelton moves out of range and Ryder only half commits. No luck for Shelton with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Federico Shelton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shelton looks for a takedown but Ryder sprawls well. Shelton swats away the attempt to clinch by Ryder. Shelton fails with a takedown attempt. Shelton looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ryder clinches. Ryder has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Shelton regains guard immediately. Ryder showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Ryder pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shelton is keeping the position for now. Shelton is pulling down on Ryder's head. It's preventing any offense from Ryder, at least for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shelton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ryder is one step ahead there. Ryder pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Ryder. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Shelton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Shelton working a defensive guard here.
