Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Murha Pate (ranked 73 p4p, 14 weight class) and Spank Crank (ranked 266 p4p, 41 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Murha Pate! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Spank Crank! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pate swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Crank ducks under a wild hook from Pate. A big left from Crank misses. Pate throws a low kick, looking for Crank's leg but Crank calmly moves out of range. Crank bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Pate throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Crank darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Pate listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Crank on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Pate. Pate obviously looking to wear him down.
Pate definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Pate thows a leg kick but Crank checks it and Crank counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Crank. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Crank throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Crank is fighting to break Pate's control of his arms but Pate is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Crank postures up in Pate's guard and throws a big left but Pate blocks it. Crank chips away with some ground and pound. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Crank throwing strikes but missing. Pate seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pate trying to keep a closed guard but Crank is proving a slippery customer.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pate holds on and takes a little breather. Crank throws a big elbow that misses. Crank trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Crank postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Crank trying to control the position from guard on top but Pate is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pate moves out of range of the body kick. Crank swings for the body but Pate moves out of range.
Pate slips a straight right by Crank. Nice defenses there by Crank. Crank avoids the head kick by Pate.
Crank lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Crank swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crank listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Pate lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Crank circles away quickly and effectively. Crunch! Pate slams his shin into Crank's torso. A big left from Crank misses. Crank uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pate has time to react. Pate misses with a body shot.
Crank throws an off balance right hand
and Pate counters with a nice uppercut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pate moves out of range as Crank strikes. A slapping leg kick lands for Crank.
Crank throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Crank missing with a left hand there. Pate was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Pate is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Pate misses with a leg kick and Crank counters with a thumping low kick. Crank throws the left hand but Pate avoids the punch easily. Pate throws a nice inside leg kick. A slapping body kick lands there for Pate. Pate fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Crank is out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A slapping body kick lands there for Pate. Pate takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Crank fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Pate misses with a low kick as Crank jumps back. Crank swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Pate blocks the body kick.
Crank throws the kick towards the body but Pate avoids it. Donk. Crank catches Pate right on the button with a cross. Pate connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
It looks like Spank Crank has been cut. Crank waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pate. Pate throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Crank connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Crank misses the shot to the body. Crank tries for a takedown but Pate sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Crank tests Pate's chin there with a solid looking shot. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pate jabs Crank right on the nose. Crank blinks but takes it well. Pate ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Crank moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Crank checks a leg kick. Crank shoots in and drives through. Pate sprawls well. Pate throws a combination that misses and Crank counters with a stiff right hand. Crank lands a body shot.
A low kick from Crank misses and Pate counters with a nice uppercut. Pate lands a leg kick that knocks Crank off balance momentarily. Crank throws a lazy uppercut
and Pate counters with a lovely straight right hand! Pate lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Pate ducks under a wild hook from Crank. Crank throws a body punch but Pate moves out of range. That kick from Pate tenderised Crank's leg. Crank is trying to keep his angry face on. Pate swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Crank. Pate seems to be stalking Crank here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastating head kick! Crank drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Murha Pate! Murha Pate retains his light heavyweight title! Murha Pate seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
