Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tony Hibbert (ranked 799 p4p, 97 weight class) and Daniel Sainty (ranked 2430 p4p, 272 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hibbert cracks Sainty with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Sainty is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Hibbert throws a lazy right hand but Sainty sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Hibbert jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Hibbert throws a lazy uppercut
and Sainty counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Nice shot lands for Hibbert. Hibbert tries to bum rush Sainty with a series of wild strikes but Sainty uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sainty is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Hibbert throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sainty on the side of the head.

Sainty has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Sainty displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hibbert throws out the jab. We've been told by Hibbert's head coaches at Ramirez School Of Excellence that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Sainty jabs Hibbert right on the nose. Hibbert blinks but takes it well. Tony Hibbert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hibbert throws a right and a left that both miss. Hibbert throws a big shot that misses. It seemed like Sainty was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Sainty avoids a punch combination nicely.

Sainty throws a half hearted mid kick. Hibbert seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Tony Hibbert is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hibbert throws a combination that misses and Sainty counters with a takedown into side control! Sainty is looking to take a break and control but Hibbert is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hibbert controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Sainty not allowing Hibbert to control his hands. Hibbert controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad spot.
Sainty doesn't have the hooks in and Hibbert manages to turn into his guard.
Sainty is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Sainty keeping full guard, as Hibbert tries to pass. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sainty changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hibbert looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hibbert struggling a bit here. Hibbert gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sainty manages to capitalize on a mistake by Hibbert to take his back! I really don't envy Hibbert right now.

Sainty gets his hands free as Hibbert looks to control. Hibbert is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Sainty gets his way!

Hibbert is aware though and is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hibbert showing good wrestling skills to control the position. That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sainty keeping moving, preventing Hibbert from controlling successfully. Hibbert got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sainty has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hibbert has managed to get both his arms back between Sainty's legs - danger averted. Sainty has his foot on Hibbert's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hibbert works his way back into a safe position though. Hibbert throws a big right hand that misses. Sainty has an active guard here but Hibbert has managed to pass into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sainty looking for subs from the bottom but Hibbert mounts him! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

And that's the end of the fight! Tony Hibbert showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hibbert, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
