Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matthew Embree!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bbequenbawer Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Embree avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Alvarez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Alvarez decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Embree looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Embree throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Alvarez on the side of the head.
Alvarez clinches.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Embree.
Alvarez lands a right hand that snaps the head of Embree backwards.
Embree wants to take the fight to the mat but Alvarez manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Embree is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Embree breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice takedown defense from Alvarez. No joy for Embree on that attempt.
Alvarez gets tackled into the cage by Embree. Embree maintains the clinch.
Alvarez is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Embree. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Embree turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Alvarez tries to bench press Embree off him but Embree keeps the position.

Embree wants to stand but Alvarez has his arm trapped.
Embree knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alvarez on the ground.
Alvarez is looking for a sweep.
Embree is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Alvarez will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Alvarez is not content to let Embree control the position.
Embree wants to stand but Alvarez is controlling his arm.

Embree tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Alvarez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Embree content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Alvarez wants to control but Embree postures up.
Alvarez avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Embree.
Embree taking a break here but Alvarez is having none of it and regains half guard.
Alvarez wants to control but Embree is keeping busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Embree is keen to just control but Alvarez is a slippery customer.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown but Embree shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Alvarez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Embree wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Embree gets a clinch.
Embree breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Embree moves to clinch but Alvarez breaks away
and Alvarez counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alvarez won't allow Embree to sweep him here.
Embree working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alvarez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alvarez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Alvarez has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Embree to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Alvarez is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Embree pulls down on the head and he's put Alvarez to sleep! This one is all over!
