Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anton Obuhov (ranked 273 p4p, 34 weight class) and Junkyard Dog (ranked 588 p4p, 71 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anton Obuhov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Junkyard Dog! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dog is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Obuhov. Dog fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Obuhov is out of range. A little feinted left hand from Obuhov on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. A shot to the liver by Obuhov. Beautiful body shot. Dog throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
It looked like Obuhov wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Junkyard Dog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dog throws a shot from downtown. Obuhov moves away and avoids it. A shot to the liver by Dog. Beautiful body shot. Dog uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Obuhov.
Obuhov looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Obuhov connects with a looping right hand.
Dog sizes up Obuhov with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dog misses with a low kick as Obuhov jumps back. Obuhov is looking to counter punch. Obuhov ducks under a wild hook from Dog. An attempted straight right counter from Obuhov misses the target. Obuhov throws a body punch but Dog moves out of range. Dog walks into a stiff left hand from Obuhov. Dog throws a body shot but no joy. Obuhov thows a left - swing and a miss! Dog throws a lazy uppercut
and Obuhov counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Obuhov lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Obuhov lands with a right hand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dog throws a quick inside leg kick. Dog swings and misses with a shot to the body and Obuhov counters with a left to the body. Obuhov lands a jab to the head.

It looks like Anton Obuhov has been cut. Obuhov dips to his left and cracks Dog with an uppercut! Dog waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Obuhov. Dog swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Junkyard Dog is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Dog throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Obuhov sees it coming and avoids it easily. Obuhov moves out of range of the strikes. Obuhov just misses with a punch to the body.

and Dog takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Dog misses with an uppercut
and Obuhov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Dog slaps away a takedown attempt from Obuhov, before circling back to the center of the mat. Dog walks into a straight right hand from Obuhov. Obuhov loads up on a big right hand but Dog slips the punch. Dog is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Dog throws a chopping leg kick but Obuhov manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Obuhov misses with a straight left. Dog walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Obuhov checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Obuhov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dog defends it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Obuhov defending well as Dog loads up on a big left hand. Obuhov dives in for a single leg takedown but Dog sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anton Obuhov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dog throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Dog gets off balance looking for a body kick and Obuhov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dog won't be happy with that. Dog sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Dog tries to get to full guard but Obuhov has control of the leg. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Obuhov is trying to control the action in half guard but Dog is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Obuhov throwing shots but Dog is blocking nicely.

Obuhov wants to take a breather but Dog is having none of it. Obuhov trying to mount his opponent but Dog defends it. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Dog on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Obuhov working the body and head with strikes. Dog is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Obuhov's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Dog is looking to improve his position.
Dog is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Obuhov scores with a couple of nice shots. Junkyard Dog has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Dog wants to get back to his feet.
Dog has hold of Obuhov's hands but Obuhov slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Obuhov is just content to waste time from the top position. Dog takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Obuhov content to stall in guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Obuhov is in close to Dog's body, working some short punches and elbows. Dog throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Obuhov trying to control but Dog is working from the bottom. Obuhov stands and throws Dog's legs to the side, diving into side control. Dog takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Dog felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Obuhov working the head with strikes. Dog manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Anton Obuhov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dog looking for submissions off his back. Anton Obuhov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Dog looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Dog is refusing to be controlled, as Obuhov sits in half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dog is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Obuhov pulls his head out easily. Obuhov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that's the end of the fight! Anton Obuhov showed his dominance in that final round. Well Obuhov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
