Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Kerr (ranked 177 p4p, 20 weight class) and Nikolaos Prouxontas (ranked 606 p4p, 63 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Prouxontas's choice of entrance music: Σταμάτης Γονί. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Kerr! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nikolaos Prouxontas! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Prouxontas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kerr throws out the jab. Kerr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Prouxontas moves away. A looping hook to the body misses from Kerr. Prouxontas does a little dance to reset his feet. Prouxontas pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Kerr throws a looping overhand right but Prouxontas ducks down to avoid it. Prouxontas throws a head kick but Kerr moves out of range.

Kerr throws a body punch but Prouxontas moves out of range. Prouxontas throws a hook but Kerr avoids it easily. Kerr changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Kerr throws a body shot but no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fighters circling - Kerr throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Prouxontas on the wrong end of a nice hook. Prouxontas throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Prouxontas lands a head kick. Kerr smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Prouxontas throws a head kick but Kerr moves out of range.

Prouxontas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kerr misses with an uppercut. Prouxontas saw that one coming. Prouxontas throws a sloppy head kick and Kerr moves out of range easily. Good exchange - Kerr coming out on top. Kerr throws a hook to the side of Prouxontas's head but Prouxontas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Kerr bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Kerr avoids the head kick by Prouxontas.

Kerr lands a jab to Prouxontas's midsection. Prouxontas throws a sloppy head kick and Kerr moves out of range easily. Kerr tries to counter with a takedown but Prouxontas is quick to defend against it. Prouxontas takes a jab right on the kisser.
This has been an exciting period of action! Prouxontas pulls out of a head kick attempt.

It looks like Nikolaos Prouxontas has been cut. Prouxontas takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Prouxontas takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Prouxontas looks winded! Kerr moves into the clinch successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kerr lands with a right to the head. Kerr lands with a light punch inside. Prouxontas blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Kerr makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Prouxontas is rocked! Kerr pushes Prouxontas against the cage. Kerr is working some dirty boxing. Kerr pushes off with a quick right hook! Prouxontas goes down! Prouxontas tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Kerr moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Kerr! Mark Kerr retains his heavyweight title! After the fight, Mark Kerr was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
