Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Whitaker (ranked 5832 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khalid Ismail (ranked 4875 p4p, 0 weight class). Forrest Whitaker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Forrest Whitaker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Khalid Ismail! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ismail shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Whitaker counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Whitaker. Ismail tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Whitaker manages to break the clinch.
Whitaker dives in for a single leg takedown but Ismail sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Ismail is trying hard to land a takedown here. Whitaker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Forrest Whitaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khalid Ismail. Ismail fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Whitaker avoids it really well and circles away. Whitaker fails with a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ismail tries to close the distance and clinch but Whitaker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ismail fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ismail tries to pull guard but Whitaker holds him up against the cage and eventually Ismail drops back down to his feet.
Whitaker lands a body shot in the clinch.
Whitaker has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ismail avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Whitaker landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Whitaker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Whitaker pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Whitaker leaves Ismail with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Whitaker misses with a wild body shot. Ismail tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Whitaker paws at him with a jab and circles away. Whitaker changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Whitaker fails to land the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whitaker takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Both fighters circling a little - Whitaker finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Ismail doesn't succeed with the takedown and Whitaker moves into the clinch. Ismail tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Whitaker just stands there and leans against the cage. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Ismail is trying to break the clinch but Whitaker is controlling him. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Whitaker lands a right hand that snaps the head of Ismail backwards.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Whitaker breaks from the clinch.
Whitaker keeps the fight on the outside. Ismail wants to clinch up but Whitaker keeps it at a distance. Ismail tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ismail dives in for a single leg takedown but Whitaker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Ismail is looking to clinch but Whitaker is avoiding it.
Whitaker shoots in for a double leg but Ismail sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ismail with the counter takedown but Whitaker avoids it easily. Whitaker has taken the fight to the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Whitaker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Whitaker connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Ismail defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Whitaker. Whitaker looks for a takedown but Ismail sprawls well. Whitaker stuffs the takedown attempt from Ismail. Ismail gets slowly back to his feet. Whitaker has his takedown stuffed and Ismail counters with a one-two to the body. Whitaker is breathing heavily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Whitaker moves into range and clinches up with Ismail. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Whitaker jumps guard but Ismail stands there with Whitaker around his waist. Whitaker gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Whitaker ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Whitaker no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Forrest Whitaker dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Nice takedown defense from Whitaker. No joy for Ismail on that attempt. Whitaker throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ismail's head. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ismail. Whitaker takes the fight into the clinch. Whitaker is stalling here.
Whitaker drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ismail gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Whitaker pulls guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Whitaker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Whitaker had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ismail defends it easily. Ismail preventing the sweep. Ismail drops back looking for a leg! Whitaker is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Whitaker manages to kick Ismail off! Ismail jumps back into Whitaker's guard. Ismail wants to stand but Whitaker is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ismail is pushing down on Whitaker's leg trying to pass to half guard. Whitaker is fighting to maintain full guard but Ismail has managed to sneak the leg through. Whitaker is controlling Ismail's trapped leg to prevent Ismail from advancing to side control. Ismail is working for a submission of some sort.
Ismail is thwarting Whitaker's attempts to control the position. Whitaker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ismail can do to turn this around?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Whitaker is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ismail jumps into side control! Ismail throwing shots but missing, from side control. Ismail trying to control the position but Whitaker is working away. Ismail tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Whitaker is pushing Ismail's head away, looking to escape. Ismail manages to hold on to the position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Whitaker wants to control but Ismail postures up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Whitaker closes the distance and pushes Ismail back into the cage. Ismail goes for a takedown in the clinch but Whitaker prevents it.
Forrest Whitaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khalid Ismail. Whitaker jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ismail walks away with a smile on his face. Whitaker gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Ismail tries to close the distance and clinch but Whitaker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ismail tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Whitaker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ismail avoids it really well and circles away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Forrest Whitaker will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Whitaker lands a jab to Ismail's midsection. Whitaker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ismail tries to avoid it but Whitaker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ismail to the ground. Ismail escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Forrest Whitaker is winning the standup battle so far. Ismail tries to clinch there but Whitaker circles away.
Ismail looks for a takedown but Whitaker sprawls well. Ismail sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Whitaker scores with a nice right hand.
A leg kick checked by Whitaker. Forrest Whitaker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. That kick from Whitaker tenderised Ismail's leg. Ismail is trying to keep his angry face on. Ismail takes a kick to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ismail throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Whitaker's waist but Whitaker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ismail off to one side. Whitaker tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Ismail manages to circle out of the way. Ismail closes this distance looking for a takedown but Whitaker circles away. Whitaker attempts a counter takedown but Ismail avoids it well and moves away. Forrest Whitaker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khalid Ismail. Ismail doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ismail is defended easily by Whitaker. Ismail takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ismail shoots for a takedown but Whitaker saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. It looked like Whitaker was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Whitaker darts in and clinches Ismail up against the cage. Ismail is trying to push Whitaker away but Whitaker has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Ismail stops a takedown attempt from Whitaker.
Whitaker manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Whitaker trying to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Whitaker throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Whitaker can't do much from the bottom here. Ismail is looking to take a break and control but Whitaker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ismail wants to stand but Whitaker is controlling his arm. Whitaker tries to bench press Ismail off him but Ismail keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Whitaker manages to get back to half guard. Whitaker is staying active underneath Ismail, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Whitaker is trying to get back to full guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Whitaker trying to get back to full guard but Ismail takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Whitaker wants to control but Ismail is having none of it. Khalid Ismail has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Forrest Whitaker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Whitaker holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ismail tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
And that's the end of the fight! Forrest Whitaker showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Whitaker, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
