PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Raine (ranked 7070 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Rocambole (ranked 4296 p4p, 0 weight class). Raine is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The key to victory for Kevin Raine has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kevin Raine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Leonard Rocambole!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raine dives in and grabs Rocambole's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rocambole pushes down on Raine's head and hops out.
Rocambole throws a big counter head kick but Raine avoids it with no problem.
Raine is breathing heavily.

Rocambole closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rocambole lands in his opponent's guard.
Rocambole throws a big right hand that misses.
Rocambole controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Rocambole's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rocambole has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Let's hope that Rocambole has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Raine knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rocambole on the ground.

It looks like Rocambole might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rocambole has eaten all the pies!

Raine is bucking up trying to escape but Rocambole cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Rocambole tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Rocambole working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Rocambole stands up from mount. Strange move.
Raine showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rocambole.
Rocambole misses with a takedown attempt - Raine sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rocambole tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Raine paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rocambole closes this distance looking for a takedown but Raine circles away.
Kevin Raine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonard Rocambole.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Raine looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Rocambole has picked Raine up and slammed him! Raine can't keep hold of the triangle and Rocambole manages to pass to side control!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rocambole shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Raine as he jumps to the side.
Raine attempts a counter takedown but Rocambole avoids it well and moves away.
Nice defenses there by Raine.
Rocambole shoots in looking for a takedown. Raine tries to sprawl out of it but Rocambole keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Raine manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Raine moves out of range as Rocambole throws a body kick.

Rocambole moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee is keeping an eye on Rocambole - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Rocambole has clasped his hands together around Raine's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Raine wants to get back to his feet but Rocambole drags him back down.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rocambole grinds an elbow into Raine's temple.

Rocambole decides to stand back up. Rocambole steps back and let's Raine get back to his feet.

Rocambole shoots in for a double leg but Raine sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rocambole tries to close the distance and clinch up but Raine swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Raine lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Rocambole looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Raine is fending him off so far but Rocambole persists. Nope, Raine circles away and we're back to standing.
Raine tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rocambole swivels and escapes.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Raine tries to close the distance and clinch but Rocambole swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Raine. No joy for Rocambole on that attempt.

Rocambole shoots in but Raine avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Rocambole closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Raine did well to prevent Rocambole getting side control.

Rocambole tries to land a knee to the head but Raine blocks with his arms.

Rocambole is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Raine is trying to escape back to his feet but Rocambole uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Rocambole cracks Raine with a big right hand but Raine just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rocambole is putting a hurting on Raine here, landing some big shots from side control.
Rocambole works to advance to full mount. Raine defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Raine is rocked!

Raine tries to improve his position but Rocambole has taken his back! Rocambole has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Raine tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Rocambole pushes Raine away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Leonard Rocambole!
