PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antony Duke (ranked 7524 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sultan Suga (ranked 5804 p4p, 0 weight class). Antony Duke is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antony Duke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sultan Suga!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suga throws a predictable looking body shot
and Duke counters with a one-two to the body.
Suga misses with a right hand
and Duke counters with a three punch combo that has Suga backing up. Suga nods at Duke to acknowledge the strikes.
A telegraphed right hand from Suga misses the target.
Suga throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Duke seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Duke enables Suga to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Duke manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Suga wants to control from the top but Duke keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Duke is looking to clinch but Suga is avoiding it.
A combination from Duke does no damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Suga throws a right hand that misses
and Duke counters with a nice body shot.
Duke misses with a takedown attempt - Suga sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Duke keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Suga.

Sultan Suga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duke closes this distance looking for a takedown but Suga circles away.
Suga misses with a shot to the body
and Duke counters with a left and a right that stings Suga.

and Duke counters with a nice body kick.
Duke really is a fat lump.

Suga scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Duke is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Suga has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duke wants to clinch.

Suga feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sultan Suga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Duke is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Suga doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Duke.

Suga wants to improve his position but Duke is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Suga wants to hit a switch here but Duke passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Suga there!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Antony Duke.
I think Duke has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
