The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roman gets caught flat footed, as Azhiev shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Roman lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Roman passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Roman cracks Azhiev with a big right hand but Azhiev just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Roman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Let's hope that Roman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Azhiev tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Roman presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Roman postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Azhiev looks a forlorn figure.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Azhiev sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Roman uses his free foot to push down on Azhiev's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Azhiev.

Azhiev is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Roman is tapping! Great win for Azhiev!

Anzhor Azhiev opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
