Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roscoe Pratt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clifford Smith! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pratt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Smith counters by clinching up. Smith jumps guard and drags Pratt to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Pratt with a flurry of punches that miss. Pratt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Smith is looking for a triangle but Pratt pushes his legs off easily.
Smith pushes Pratt off and gets back to his feet.
Smith shoots for a takedown but Pratt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Smith rushes Pratt and presses him up against the cage. Smith slowing the pace effectively. Pratt being controlled against the cage. Pratt is trying to pull guard but Smith has him pressed against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith is trying to work for a kimura but Pratt is defending well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Smith in particular looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith passes to full mount! Smith controlling the pace for now. Pratt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground. Smith is standing up, even though he is in mount. Smith darts in and clinches Pratt up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pratt clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Smith is riding his opponent, not letting Pratt buck him off. Smith scores with strikes from the back.
Smith scores with punches and elbows. Smith slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith looking for the RNC. Smith working for a choke but Pratt is defending well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pratt is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Smith gets his way!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Clifford Smith dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Pratt gets caught flat footed, as Smith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Smith is looking to work some ground and pound but Pratt has wrist control. Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Smith gets to his feet - Pratt follows without any prompting. Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pratt tries to keep at a distance but Smith has taken the fight into the clinch. Smith manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith has a closed guard, preventing Pratt from standing up. Smith throws a nice elbow from the bottom. Smith has a closed guard, preventing Pratt from standing up. Pratt has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Smith throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pratt's guard. Smith is looking to advance position but Pratt has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Smith is looking to get to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pratt gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Smith advances to half guard. Pratt wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it. Clifford Smith has got the better of the ground game so far. Smith controlling the pace. Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pratt keeps working. Smith trying to control the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Pratt tries to get to full guard but Smith has control of the leg. Smith is taking a breather. Pratt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Smith drops an elbow to the side of Pratt's head. Pratt avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smith. Smith is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smith decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pratt was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Clifford Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Smith is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pratt's half guard. Pratt tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Smith has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Smith scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Pratt is rocked!
It looks like Roscoe Pratt has been cut. Smith is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Smith extends the arm and Pratt is forced to tap!
