PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between One Punch (ranked 4601 p4p, 0 weight class) and Enyo Glover (ranked 5593 p4p, 396 weight class). Punch has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, One Punch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Enyo Glover!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punch takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Glover shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Punch as he jumps to the side.
Glover fails to land the takedown.
Punch throws a body shot but no joy.

Glover has Punch up against the cage in a clinch.
Glover avoiding damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Punch is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Glover keeps control of Punch as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Punch prevents a body shot from Glover.

Glover breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Punch throws a body punch but Glover moves out of range.
Punch tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Glover was well out of range. Poor timing from Punch.
Punch is breathing heavily.
Punch misses the shot to the body.
Glover fails with a takedown attempt.
One Punch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Enyo Glover.

Glover closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Glover breaks the clinch.
Punch misses the shot to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Punch looking to stall.

Glover keeps control of Punch as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Glover pulls Punch into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Glover manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Punch manages to get himself to full guard.

Glover controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Glover tries to free his leg and advance position but Punch is retaining full guard.
Glover slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Glover thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Glover stands up and beckons Punch to his feet.
Glover moves in looking to clinch but Punch pushes him off.
Glover misses with a double jab
and Punch counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Glover misses with a takedown attempt
and Punch counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Glover shoots in and drives through. Punch sprawls well.
Some wild striking there from Glover.
Punch is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Punch is looking to wear down Glover with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Glover closes this distance looking for a takedown but Punch circles away.
An attempted straight right counter from Punch misses the target.
Glover misses with a series of wild punches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Punch defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Glover.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Glover tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Punch manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Punch is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Glover fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Glover.
A solid leg kick lands there for Glover.
Punch comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Punch gets tackled into the cage by Glover. Glover maintains the clinch.
Glover tries to score a body lock takedown but Punch shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Punch wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Glover has him pressed against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Punch wants to pass the guard but Glover is keeping the position.
Glover has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Punch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Glover has his foot on Punch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Punch works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Glover wants to clinch but Punch slips to the side
and Punch counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Glover is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Punch lands a slapping body shot.
Glover looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
No luck for Glover with that takedown attempt.
One Punch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Enyo Glover.

Punch slaps away a takedown attempt from Glover, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Glover has closed the distance and engaged Punch in a clinch.

Glover has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Punch after a bit of a struggle.
Glover jumps guard but Punch stands there with Glover around his waist. Glover gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Glover tries for a takedown but Punch manages to get underhooks.

Punch has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Glover jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Punch walks away with a smile on his face. Glover gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Enyo Glover is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Glover misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Punch throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Glover on the side of the head.
Punch stuns Glover with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Glover wants to clinch.

Punch stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Punch wants it to stay on the feet.

Punch takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Glover gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Punch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Punch makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Glover moves in looking to clinch but Punch pushes him off.
Nice uppercut lands for Punch. That snapped Glover's head back.

And that's the end of the fight!
One Punch showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Punch has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
