PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kareem Dennis (ranked 2321 p4p, 266 weight class) and Steve Cusumano (ranked 4693 p4p, 447 weight class). Cusumano comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Gamefire kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Kareem Dennis ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Cusumano! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dennis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cusumano is fending him off so far but Dennis persists. Nope, Cusumano circles away and we're back to standing. A little jabbing left from Cusumano on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Cusumano lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dennis circles away quickly and effectively. Dennis has a takedown stuffed. Dennis fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kareem Dennis . That's going to take a lot out of him. Cusumano changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Cusumano scores with a punch to the head. Dennis shoots in looking for a takedown but Cusumano manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dennis 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Dennis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cusumano avoids it really well and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dennis gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Cusumano throws a right and a left that Dennis avoids nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cusumano misses with a low kick. Jab, jab by Cusumano - just one landing. Cusumano bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Cusumano has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far. Dennis finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Cusumano's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Dennis falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Cusumano! Steve Cusumano decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
